Eminem will mark his return to record stores later this year with “Eminem Presents: The Re-Up,” which is slated for release Dec. 5.
Originally conceived as a mixtape strictly for consumption by the streets, the compilation album will now be released by Interscope Records in the thick of the holiday season, the rapper has announced.
advertisement “What happened is that the material was so good and the tracks were getting produced like a regular album,” Eminem said in a statement released last week by his record label.
“Instead of putting it out there rough and unfinished, I thought we should add some other new tracks, make it a real album and put it in the record stores to give these new artists a real boost.”
The album, executive produced by Eminem, will include songs by Shady Records artists such as Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater and Ca$his, as well as tracks by D12, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Obie Trice, Akon and Eminem himself.
The first single and video will be “You Don’t Know,” a track by Em, 50, Banks and Ca$his.
