‘ Shit On You ‘ has probably angered a lot of people, but I guess the most offended were certainly feminist groups.
Eminem has been protested and demonstrated against by some intolerant groups, because of the misinterpretation of his lyrics :
http://www.nyrock.com/worldbeat/01_2001/013101.asp
This is a typical statement that comes from a feministic website :
‘ Occasionally, the level of hatred aimed at women will rise to a degree that earns attention’for better or worse. Critics have debated the misogyny of Eminem’s lyrics, yet his songs about rape and violence continue to sell millions of records. ‘
http://www.now.org/issues/violence/072403violence.html
The song is misogynistic on purpose :
‘ And all women ain’t SHIT
Only good for cooking cleaning and sucking dick- And that’s it (I said it)’ ‘
What Bizarre expresses in those few lines is nearly equivalent to what Marshall says in his song ‘ Business ‘ :
‘ ‘there’s no such thing, like a female with good looks, who cooks
and cleans’ ‘
The question is : I am a woman. Should I feel offended by those lyrics ? Should I feel demeaned or insulted by Eminem and his fellows ?
My answer is clearly no.
Why ?
First, because I got a sense of humor.
Second, because I know that those lines are ‘ nuttin’ but music ‘, those are words on the mic and they don’t necessarly reflect the entertainers’ point of view in real life.
Third, if you take a look at ‘ Shit On You ‘, you will clearly understand that Bizarre and Eminem are pissing off a specific category of women on purpose. Feminists from activists groups are targetted in particular :
‘ A lot of people say misogynistic which is true
I don’t deny it- matter of fact I stand by it
So please stand by at the start of a damn riot
If you don’t wanna get stampeded then stand quiet (that’s)
Boy girl dog woman man child’ ‘
It’s sad, but there will always be narrow minded people, even at University :
http://www.dailyillini.com/nov00/nov03/news/news02.shtml
Accusing Eminem an his fellows from D12 to be misogynistic men is far too simplistic. It is so easy to misunderstand them at first sight. But open your eyes : the D12 group didn’t invent misogyny nor is the group responsible for any kind of demeaning behavior against women. What is expressed in Eminem and his fellows’ lines is a parody of some typical masculine behavior towards women. While watching the video of ‘ Shit On You ‘, Bizarre is so funny while saying those lines, that you immediatly understand that his statement must be taken at a second degree.
Eminem knows that he will shock people, but he doesn’t write his rhymes with the only purpose to shock people :
“I do say things, that i think will shock people, but i dont do things, that will shock people.’
‘Shit On You’ expresses a disgust of society and its hypocrisy. It points out its failures. The D12 ‘don’t give a fuck’ if you like their words, if you find them correct or not. They really don’t care about who you are.
That also means they won’t make any compromise just to please you. So let them say what they have to say.
Swifty starts with a well written parody of violence, a ‘lyrical piranha’ that will hit you and eat you, followed by Bizarre who makes fun of Islamic integrism, cumulates violence and mysogyny and sarcastically concludes with ‘Truly yours- The Idiotic Bizarre’. A conclusion that is made on purpose to piss you off.
The whole ‘Shit On You’ video intelligently combines different elements that usually wouldn’t match: threatening thugs in the Detroit landscape and a lot of comical effects that are reinforced by Eminem’s different disguises.
Honestly, there is no need to get offended. The D12 crew points out some misogyny and people’s arrogance than is (so often) induced by the same conservative and activist groups who are so shocked by the content of D12’s lyrics.
The D12 crew also gives you a little taste of violence. A street violence they haven’t invented, but that they parody so well.
Well, if the D12 have offended you, there is nothing they can do for you anyway:
‘If you people get offended I don’t care (stop cryin)
Tryin to get us to leave cuz what we say just aint clean (uh, uh)…’ (‘Ain’t Nuttin’ But Music’)
It’s high time you realized it ain’t ‘nutting but music’.

Invasion part III
Invasion part III: final battle, countdown to Armaggedon. The final chapter of a spiritual battle has begun. Dj Green Latern and Eminem are ready to shoot.
Eminem fires back at the Source who didn’t stop targetting the best rapper as a racist. In this track, you can feel Eminem’s anger against the Source’s owner who didn’t stop running their mouth against him.
The white owned magazine has clearly shown its lack of honesty. Anybody who knows Eminem well also knows that the statements made on his former tape ( a tape that was made out of anger in a particular context ) don’t reflect Marshall’s mentallity.
Benzino’s hypocrisy is reflected through his statements, though:
‘Black women are bad, white women are good’, I don’t care if he’s redeemed himself now, that’s not the message. If that’s who he is, then he has to be held accountable for that.”
If we consider the fact that Eminem’s former freestyle was meant to suck -by definition- as a ‘suckering rhyme’, we will take into account following elements:
-Eminem never released this freestyle, there is no written text for it. It was never meant to be professional work, it was just a way to get rid of the rejection white MCs experienced from the black side.
-Eminem was angry with his former black girlfriend and expressed it on a tape. He made the mistake to talk about black women in general.
-it is known that Eminem has dated black women and even at a time racial tension was a high in Detroit.
Jennifer from Madison has left an insightful comment on a MTV website:
‘To penalize him for something he said a long time ago is just stupid. Who hasn’t done something in their past that they regret? The Source is acting like he was a member of the KKK or something. He just broke up with a girl and insulted her. If he were a racist, would he have dated an African-American woman in the first place? How many racist comments have Benzino and Dave Mays made in their lives? Because they weren’t on tape, does that make them less accountable? ‘
Jennifer, 29
Madison, WI
So have Angela and Ebony:
“Where does Benzino come off saying that we should treat this Eminem incident the way we treated Tyson, Bryant, Kelly and Simpson’s incidents? A rape conviction, a rape allegation, pending charges of sex with a minor and murder accusations are completely different than a racial comment.
As an African-American woman, I am not offended by what Eminem said on that tape. He was young and dumb and had just broken up with his girlfriend. Many black artists use racial slurs about white women and white people in general. And that is now, not ten years ago. I don’t remember Benzino getting upset over that. Where’s his double standard now? I am glad Eminem was man enough to own up to the tapes and to put them in perspective. ”
Ebony, 22
Newark, NJ
“I am a black woman married to a black man and this story on Eminem has not hindered my plan to continue to enjoy his music and buy his albums. Perhaps The Source should focus on black hip-hop artists who continue to degrade sistas daily. Benzino, are you saying it is OK to call a woman a bitch, a ho or a money-hungry chickenhead, but only if you are a black artist? My bad! ”
Angela, 36
Romeoville, IL
Moreover what do you call a half black man who encouraged the white MC he had signed on his label to use the ‘N’ word and then who calls Eminem a racist for a tape that has never been released and that is taken out of context? An hypocrite.
And how should we describe a white man who admits that ‘hip hop made him respect Black people?’ A racist.
How should we call a journalist who is ready to misrepresent the truth for her magazine’s highest interest? A traitor.
Who are the persons who want to judge Eminem? An hypocrite, a racist and a traitor. Persons who would walk on the dead for their own interest and in order to increase their sales.
Benzino and Dave Mays and their dishonest employee Kim Osorio who gets intentionally called a ho’ by Eminem are trying to work against Eminem’s career. They talk big like Eminem states it in his song, they are ready to do anything to trash him which makes them look even more ridiculous:
“I got a riddle, what’s little and talks big with midget arms
and has creamy white filling in the middle
that’ll do any thing to throw dirt on my name
if it means walking the whole Mediterranean.
Is it an albanian? Armenian? Iranian? Tasmanian? No. “
But Eminem is well weaponed against them. His weapons are his honesty. Eminem doesn’t need to fake his feelings. He has nothing to hide. He has made a mistake. He feels sorry and he apologized for. He wants to go forward.
Eminem has done more for hip hop and interracial relations with his music than Benzino and Dave Mays will ever do. His love for the culture he was brought up in can hardly be denied. That’s why the talented MC is so angry with them and expresses it in the following lines:
“I told ya I love this culture.
Don’t let them insult ya.
I’m a tell you one again
this is the environment I was brought up in…”
Eminem knows what growing up in the neighborhood means. Dave Mays is a graduate talking about hip hop. It isn’t really hard to guess who’s the most credible about hip hop culture.
Benzino’s jealousy and attitude are the successful description of a loser in Eminem’s song:
‘…. Which is why I understand
you can’t be mad at a 44 year old man with a chimp on his shoulder
Who only owns half a magazine
and the only way to have it seen
it to put me on the front of it again.
Only thing that makes him grin
is to see me frowning.
Papa can’t stand me. Papa needs to take his medication
and then sit the fuck down.
in his new chair that goes round and round
that he bought with the money in his bank account.
That I get him every issue when the thing comes out.
Sit back and let his puffy clown hair come out.
And let his black side arm wrestle his white side.
Yellow part tied, loud enough that he might so he might side.
He might find, some one dumb enough to ride.’
Even if Eminem sounds really pissed off on his recent song, he manages to beat his haters from The Source with intelligence and a lot of humor.
His use of ‘asses’ instead of ‘butts’ creates a comical effect that goes along with his anger.
‘Keep licking these nuts. You industry mutts
keep walking around sniffing each other’s butts.
Or should I say asses?
What would be more politically correct term to use for the masses?’
Give it up, Dave Mays and fellows. You have already been knocked out by Eminem. Instead of spending your whole energy and money on hating him, it would certainly be high time for you to get a life and work on constructive projects that would help hip hop to go forward.Lyrics:

Shady in the place to be see and It takes what I got to roc the mic, RIGHT?! Still knockin’ a K to these punks, fuckin’ cocksuckin’ pussy lips hatin’ mixed cunts!
Do you hate him because he’s different?
“You hate me because I’m different. I hate you because you’re all the same”. ‘Eminem
This is a rare Eminem quote I have found on a fan website :
http://www.geocities.com/tomboy9119/Eminem.html
A less known and interesting quote. A quote that refers to Marshall’s originality. A quote that also rejects conventional thinking.
Eminem may be a high school dropout, he is also a bookworm. If you take enough time to go deep into his lyrics, you will be amazed by the way he handles words with his immense creative skills.
Some people have objected that Eminem hasn’t brought up anything new to the rap game. Eminem may not be original in using some words, expressions or concepts some other rappers did long before him. In fact, Eminem didn’t want to invent anything new. That’s exactly what he says in ‘ The Real Slim Shady ‘ :
‘ And there’s a million of us just like me
Who cuss like me, who just don’t give a fuck like me
Who dress like me, walk, talk and act like me
And just might be the next best thing, but not quite me… ‘
But Eminem is original in his way of telling things. That’s why he makes a real difference. He may talk about tragical issues, but his particular narrative style manages to make them appear in a funny way.
When you are listening to an Eminem song, you will be able to recognize it among 10 000 other songs. Why ? Because Eminem’s style is unique.
Eminem makes a difference in the world of hip hop ‘not because he’s white- but because of his creativity.
His skills are creative. His rhyming style so sophisticated, his rhymes are subtle.
He manages to created special effect by the repetition of same sounding syllables. He can make you penetrate in a special athmosphere that makes you feel the situation of the moment. The repetition of the (i) sound in the 8 Mile song makes you feel Rabbit’s permanent struggle to succeed.
Eminem’s videos are very imaginative. One very good example is the ‘Without Me’ video. In this video Eminem chooses so many different disguises and personnalities. He manages to make people relax, which is a good way to help them to forget about their allday problems.
Eminem’s voice is unique too. It is sensitive, warm and manages to make you feel his deepest emotions.
Eminem is far from being average. He is extremely talented and creative, which explains his disgust of ordinary people who lack originality and who all look the same.
No wonder some people hate him because he’s different.
97′ Bonnie and Clyde
Have you ever heard of Bonnie Jade and Clyde Mathers ? It’s Eminem and his daughter, two well known accomplices, who are ready to conquer the world’
Hailie and her daddy against the world.
The story of the real ‘ Bonnie and Clyde ‘ who remained a mystery for the FBI is related here :
http://www.fbi.gov/libref/historic/famcases/clyde/clyde.htm
‘ 97 Bonnie and Clyde ‘ is often so negatively viewed by people, because they are unable to see Eminem’s reconciliation attempt with Kim and the expression of his unconditional love for his daughter.
After the flop of the ‘ Infinite ‘ album, Kim simply left Marshall and she didn’t allow him to see Hailie. All the pain that is linked to this event is expressed in ‘ Bonnie and Clyde ‘.
Mike Mazur, Eminem’s former boss from 1993 to 1997, talks about Marshall’s worries about his daughter :
‘ He would come in to work and worry and say, ‘The bitch took my daughter and won’t let me see her. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t know what I’m going to do. ‘
In 2001, Eminem stated about Kim :
‘ Whenever we fight she takes Hailie away and uses her as a weapon against me. ‘
This is actually what Kim used to do in 1997, when she wouldn’t allow Marshall to see his daughter. To those who are shocked by Eminem’s words in the song, explaining why he ‘ had to bury Hailie’s mom ‘, try to look at the circumstances Eminem was going through as a father.
Kim wouldn’t allow him to see Hailie. His step father even threatened him with a gun in rder to forbid him to see his daughter.
Eminem didn’t use force, he didn’t kidnap Hailie. His only weapons and SOS calls were his words :
‘ Our relationship is… I don’t know if it’s necessarily healthy, but it’s a weird relationship, man. I get real personal at times. And I feel like, if something is going on in my personal life, that’s my way of venting, is writing it down. I feel like I can use words as weapons against people. She does something to me like she has before — we’ve had problems in the past — I’ll say it on the record if I’m thinking about it, and I write it down. That’s to show how much I care about her. If I’m thinking that much to write you down in a song, then you obviously did something, you know. I care about you that much. ‘ (Eminem)
So when Kim allowed him to see Hailie again, he made her believe that he was taking her to Chuck E Cheese while he was recording his little girl’s voice on the track. A strong call for Kim Eminem wanted back in his life. A strong call for her to also consider that nothing could tear him away from his daughter which is strongly expressed in the chorus :
Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!
Some reactions are even anticitaped in the track called ‘ Bitch ‘ that follows the song :
‘ Justin?
It’s Zoe.
Kelly did not have me call, however I just listened to Eminem in her car and it is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard in my entire life.
And I seriously wanna call his fucking agent
And tell him how fucking disgusting he is It, like, makes me upset and I’m now nausious and I can’t eat lunch.
Goodbye. ‘
Disgusted listeners, let me tell you this : Kim’s murder is only fictional, the story is a surrealistic murder tale. Eminem’s pain and his love and devotion towards his daughter are real.
Kim has driven Eminem mad , he expresses all his pain and bitterness in the song. Appearently she betrayed him too :
‘See honey.. there’s a place called heaven and a place called hell
A place called prison and a place called jail
And da-da’s probably on his way to all of em except one
Cause mama’s got a new husband and a stepson
And you don’t want a brother do ya? (Nah)
Maybe when you’re old enough to understand a little better
I’ll explain it to ya
But for now we’ll just say mama was real real bad
She was bein mean to dad and made him real real mad
But I still feel sad that I put her on time-out
Sit back in your chair honey, quit tryin to climb out (WAHH!)
I told you it’s okay HaiHai, wanna ba-ba?
Take a night-night? Nan-a-boo, goo-goo ga-ga?
Her make goo-goo ca-ca? Da-da change your dia-dee
Clean the baby up so her can take a nighty-nighty
Your dad’ll wake her up as soon as we get to the water
Ninety-seven Bonnie and Clyde, me and my daughter’
Have you ever thought this ‘so shockingly awful’ song Eminem has written by Eminem for Kim to listen to? His strategy was to get Kim back. And it worked.
Although Kim may have found the content of ’97 bonnie and Clyde’ weird, she went back with Marshall.
Those are her words about the song where she ‘symbolically- gets murdered:
‘ When she first heard ’97 Bonnie And Clyde, she was kind of like, ‘ You’re an asshole. You’re a fucking prick. ‘ (Eminem)
Some people may reproach Eminem to exploit his daughter on his tracks for his own success. I don’t see it like that. I think Eminem does it as a tribute to his daughter. His love and devotion towards Hailie are summarized in those words :
‘Just me and you baby
is all we need in this world
Just me and you
Your da-da will always be there for you
Your da-da’s always gonna love you
Remember that
If you ever need me I will always be here for you
If you ever need anything, just ASK
Da-da will be right there
Your da-da loves you
I love you baby ‘
How Ja Rule started problems with Eminem
Ja Rule started problems with Eminem and the Shady camp when 50 Cent got signed to Shady Records.
Both men ‘ 50 Cent and Ja Rule- have fought against each other physically and their feud goes back to several years ago. 50 Cent has punched Ja Rule and Ja and his crew have stabbed 50 Cent.
When 50 Cent was signed to Shady Records, Ja Rule stated that if they allowed 50 Cent to diss him or Murder Inc, he’d take action against Marshall Mathers and his producer.
First targetting 50 Cent on ‘A Warrior’s Words’, the Murder Inc.’s Black Child mixtape, Ja Rule replied to Eminem’s diss track ‘Go To Sleep’ where Eminem warns him with “Ja, you’ll get it too”.
Reponding to 50 Cent, he said: ‘What kind of world is this when a snitch gets praise?” and then addressing to Eminem with the intention to threaten him: “I’m hunting ya blondie…”
“Em you know you fear me/ ‘Cause I’m clearly the rap game’s Jimmy Hoffa”.
When 50 Cent released a track combining Tupac’s vocals with his own voice called ‘The Realest Killaz’ in which he attacks ‘Ja Rule’s obsession with Tupac’.
50 Cent has also been dissed in many other Irv Gotti tracks. 50 Cent made fun of Ja Rule so many times lyrically but his funniest retaliation is the ‘Wanska’ video where a Ja Rule puppet lands in the trash.
Ja Rule expressed about his beef with 50 Cent and Shady Aftermath:
“It’s really nothing to handle because these guys don’t really want beef, they just want to talk about me and sell records. If they see me, they’re gonna go the other way and keep talking about me and selling records. If I see them, I’m gonna approach them and ask them what’s the problem. That’s the difference. Well, not just ask, but you know.”
This statement cannot be taken seriously. Who would take Ja Rule seriously as a gangsta? His Murder Inc compagny may be surrounded by some dangerous people who are paid by Murder Inc to kill people, but Ja Rule himself a gangsta ? That’s laughable.
When I express my dislike of Ja Rule, many people keep telling me ‘ You dislike Ja Rule, just because he hates 50 Cent and Slim Shady. ‘
Let me prove you wrong. Long before Ja Rule started beefing with Shady/ Aftermath, I didn’t like the artist and I even despised him. Why ?
Because his music is supposed to be hip hop and doesn’t sound like hip hop. It sounds much more like RNB and the subject matter is all about women. In my opinion, Ja Rule lacks originality.
To me, he is a gangsta wannabe who wants to be taken as Tupac’s successor which is ridiculous.
Ja Rule made fun of Eminem calling him ‘ Feminem ‘, which ain’t original at all, hi predecessors fellow Eminem haters did it before and added :
Black pain / but you could become the first white rapper slain / just get your money man / the Inc. is running thangs; you hiding out with loose change.”
Eminem’s whole life story proves Ja Rule wrong. Eminem perfectly knows black people’s pain, he shared their lives and sorrows and he always whowed his love for hip hop culture.
Ja even hits below the belt, making fun of Eminem’s daughter:
“Em you claim your mothers a crackhead and Kim is a known slut/ so what’s Hailie gonna be when she grows up?”
Ja Rule’s lyrics are grammatically weak and i don’t see what else he could oppose to the Shady camp but his jealousy.
And a big expression of his jealousy and his weakness was totally exposed when he dared dissing Eminem’s daughter.
But Hailie got her revenge, thanks her father’s diss track against Ja Rule where he ironically uses Ja’s sentence to make him look ridiculous. Hailie’s contribution in ‘ Do Rae Me ‘ is also a plus.
Some of Eminem’s enemies are real cowards who are too weak artistically and lyrically that they have nothing better to do than attacking an innocent child (it must be really hard for a 8 years old child to be handled like this by people who hate her simply because she’s Eminem’s daughter). Eminem never disrespected Ja Rule’s kids. Eminem has the courage to attack his enemies directly, he is not afraid to fight them. His weak opponents like Ja Rule and others made fools of themselves with their demeaning words against Hailie Jade, being unable to fight like ‘ real men ‘.
The track ‘ Shit Hits The Fan ‘ from Obie Trice’s album ‘ Cheers ‘ featuring Eminem and Dr Dre has definitly killed Ja Rule lyrically : it made Ja Rule look like Ja Fool. Not only the Shady Camp, but also rappers DmX and Busta Rhymes took position against Ja Rule.
Besides Benzino and Ir
He’s W-H-I-T-E
He’s white. So what ?
The best M.C on the planet is white.
All his life, Eminem had to suffer and to be annoyed by people because of his skin color. I agree with him when he says :
“Unless you want to fuck me, why do you care what I look like?”
Why should his skin color be an issue when we all know that he raps so well ?
If you look back at America’s history, Black people used to suffer a lot because of their skin color and they still do. Segregation and discrimination is familiar to them.
Usually nobody focuses on your skin color when you’re white. People look at you as an individual, but never as a ‘ white man ‘ or a ‘ white woman ‘ if you live in a society dominated by white people’unless you live in a black hood and you’re white.
Marshall Mathers exactly knows what racial segregation and discrimination means. He has fully experienced it in Detroit-from the black side.
Marshall used to get bullied by a black boy who was two years older than him, D’Angelo Bailey. Bailey sent him into coma for nine days.
Being integrated among black people was far from easy in a period of high racial tensions in Detroit.
But Marshall had something strong that linked him to black people and their history : his passion for hip hop.
His passion for rap music and his love for black people made him become part of the landscape of a culture that is also his.
Marshall’s fight was a double fight : to be accepted in the black landscape and to get recognition as a white rapper in a main black audience, which has been far from easy.
Marshall recalls the time he was living near 7 Mile Road with Kim : (Interview given to Spin Magazine, 1999)
‘ About three or so years ago, not that long after my daughter [Hailie Jade Scott] was born. I was staying in this house on 7 Mile Road, and little kids used to walk down the street going, “Look at the white baby!”
Everything was “white this, white that.”
We’d be sitting on our porch, and if you were real quiet, you’d hear, “Mumble, mumble, white, mumble, mumble, white.”
Marshall perfectly knows what the word ‘ racism ‘ means, because he has experienced it so many times. When he was 16, he’s been shot at by black men.
To real hip hop lovers, skin color can’t be an issue : only talent matters. Chuck D. from Public Enemy intelligently made us think about racial issue from a blind man’s perspective’ Skin color wouldn’t matter to a blind man. He would only rate an artist’s talent and his lyrical skills.
Unfortunately racists and closed minded people like Benzino and Dave Mays (who don’t know even know Eminem personally) made an issue of his skin color. The Source magazine that first praised Eminem as the next best thing suddenly turns against him to serve an (untalented) rapper’s -Benzino ‘ huge ambitions. Benzino who is one of the weakest rappers I ever listened to, wanted people to notice him thanks to his perverted attacks against the illest MC.
Benzino may be half black. Matter of fact : he can’t rap.
Benzino’s anti Eminem campaign is much more than a personal vendetta. It is a defamatory campaign. Kim Osorio, the editor in chief of the Source magazine disinforms the public by transforming some informations for the only interest of her magazine. The Source has become more and more unprofessional.
Eminem’s former tape containing some racist statements for which Eminem has apologized for has become the Source’s main scandal.
It is just a big publicity stunt. A little objectivity helps us to clear things up :
-Eminem is sorry for the content of this tape. When he made this tape (probably between 1988 and 1989), he was actually dating a black girl for about 3 weeks (at a time of high racial tensions in Detroit City). When he broke up with her, Marshall went mad and retaliated with this amateur tape.
-We should take into account that Marshall was a teenager and that he sad something stupid, like many teenagers do.
-Another proof that the tape is an amateur freestyle. There is no written text for this tape.
-Chaos Kid and Uncle Cracker enlighten the context in which they were recording those tapes. Most of those kids used to record tapes because they wanted to learn how to rap. Among them, Eminem.
Chaos Kid also explains that the freestyles that were created were called ‘ suckering rhymes ‘ and were supposed to be some stupid jokes. Some of them were parodies of racism white MC’s were experiencing from the black audience.
-Eminem was recording most of his tapes at Mike Ruby’s ( a former school mate from High School) basement.
Since he was a teenager, Eminem has always been a great hip hop fan. He used to like LL Cool J and NWA, for instance :
‘ When I was 9 years old, my uncle put me on to the Breakin’ soundtrack. The first rap song I ever heard was Ice-T, ‘Reckless.’ From L.L. to the Fat Boys, and all that shit, I was fascinated. When L.L. first came out with I’m Bad, I wanted to do it, to rhyme. Standing in front of the mirror, I wanted to be like L.L. ‘
He also used to wear black glasses and to look into the mirror. He used to imitate Ice Cube’s lipsinking.
A racist man wouldn’t imitate Blacks and identify himself to them.
Can you imagine how tiresome it must be for Eminem always to deal with his race, even now that he’s at the top ?
That’s what he expressed a few years ago :
“All my life I’ve been dealing with my race because of where I grew up [Detroit] and being in the rap game. I’m at a boiling point…Anybody who pulls the race card is getting it right back in their face.” –
“I get offended when people say, `So, being a white rapper…and growing up white…after being born white…’ It’s all I ever hear!”
Eminem has never considered race as an issue. He used to live among Blacks and he totally integrated their culture. But he doesn’t use black music selfishly (although he makes a sarcastic statement about it in ‘ Without Me ‘ to make people who compare him with Elvis Presley look totally ridiculous.)
‘ I know what I do is Black music. I know how it started, I know where it came from. But instead of solely trying to capitalize off it, I’ve been able to get in a poition where I’m able to help other people. ‘ (Eminem)
Hip hop is Eminem’s culture. A culture that he is totally dedicated to. A culture that he loves. A culture he’s been an enrichment to.
The best rapper is W-H-I-T-E . Get over it. His talent is really all that should matter.
Will Benzino and Dave Mays also deny hip hop to white MCs from Detroit such as Backstab The Kingpin ? Will they also call Jin, the Asian rapper, a culture stealer ?
It is high time people realized that music is universal. As long as an artist has talent and skills, why shouldn’t he contribute to a specific culture’s enrichment ?
Quoting Eminem on this issue :
‘ Dave Mays and Benzino are spitting in the face of what hip hop and rap music have done to promote racial unity. ‘
Unlike the Source’s racist and old fashioned views, hip hop needs to go forward and to give any person her chance, no matter where she comes from- as long as she has talent.
Revelation
Many parents may not like D12’s ‘ Revelation ‘ song from the Devil’s Night album. It is provocative, it talks against school, education. It is also about masturbation and violence. So many subjects parents usually don’t want their kids to be confronted to.
Many parents also try to hide reality from their kids and too many of them don’t understand what’s going through a teenager’s mind. Many of them wish their kids to attend University without taking their kid’s own wishes into account.
Many teenagers want to enjoy the day, they are not so much focused on the future. The chorus expresses it very well :
‘ I don’t wanna go to school.. I don’t need no education
I don’t wanna be like you.. I don’t wanna save the nation
I just wanna live my life.. everyday a celebration
One day I’ma leave this world.. I wait for the revelation ‘
Teenagers often follow the well known philosophy of ‘ Carpe Diem ‘ (Enjoy, keep the day). In fact, many adolescents are conscious of the fragility of life and to tell the truth, the only part of our life we really do master is our present. You can make a lot of plans and projects about your future without being sure to achieve them.
Eminem is also a denonciator of the rotten system we live in. He points out that school can also be a place of all nightmares where kids can be abused and picked on day after day. He explains how much teenagers can find their consolation in music.
Bizarre’s part is provocative against Christian integrists and his conclusion is full of humor :
‘ There’s three things that keep me from bein a Nazi
I’m black, a fag, and my dad’s Liberace’ ‘
School is pictured as a peaceful and wonderful place to suburban kids. Kids from the neighborhood experience school in a different way : often experiencing violence in their family, they are also confronted to violence at school, as the D12 members point it out. If you haven’t been bullied in the neighborhood school, there are great chances that you were the bully.
Eminem is certainly a denonciator of the system who also talks to suburban kids. Eminem feels close to the youth and he fully understand what young people are experiencing at school and at home in some broken families. Parents shouldn’t consider him as an enemy, but rather as an ally of their kids. His music helps so many of them to overcome the dramas they are going through. Eminem feels concern for the young generation. He has also created the ‘ Marshall Mathers foundation ‘ that provides funds for the troubled youth. You can lear more about it on this website :
http://www.commongroundsanctuary.org/news.html
When kids are constantly struggling to survive and worried for their own security, how could they concentrate on school subjects ?
Proof’s verses are full of venom and retaliation. He pictures violence and explains school shootings :
“Wait ’til school’s over, pu-pil are people to shoot through
Kids goin cuckoo, with a two-two
Since my fame is this new dude, in this high school
Losin his noodle learn that people don’t like you
The football jocks is, spittin on him
Popular kids in school is now pickin on him
Burn out youngsta niggaz now hittin on him
And his teacher in his english class keep flippin on him
And now he’s grounded with no allowances
for drinkin forty ounces, cause he was caught by his counselors
And why the fuck I gotta rob the bitch coach?
Already got expelled for wearin a trenchcoat
All I ever seen is.. {violence, violence}
Told me to keep silent, stepped back in my eyelids
It’s apparent that my parents weren’t parents at all
That’s why I blew out my brains and murdered you all…”
Parents, don’t judge the song badly. Just try to envision yourself in the mind of a kid who constantly gets bullied. Retaliation would be your main motivation.
No doubt, if you had experienced what Eminem has been through,’ Slim Shady would be somethin that you woulda bought ‘.
Eminem and his fellows from D12 are talking about ghetto reality. Remember that. And truth needs to be told to the world.Revelation
Chorus
I don’t wanna go to school.. I don’t need no education
I don’t wanna be like you.. I don’t wanna save the nation
I just wanna live my life.. everyday a celebration
One day I’ma leave this world.. I wait for the revelation
[Bizarre]
I wanna kill myself! I’m still debatin
In front of a baptist church, masturbatin
Prayin to Satan – think I’m crazy cause I smoke crack
live on (?) in a two-family flat? (Fuck it)
Tired of gettin hit in the face with a broom
My moms on her period, my dad’s in my room (Daddy no!)
I got ten rocks and I need to get out
I told him in five minutes, out my own damn mouth (Moms smoke crack)
My poor grandmother, God bless her soul
The bitch got AIDS (aww) she just waitin to die of a cold (hahaha)
There’s three things that keep me from bein a Nazi
I’m black, a fag, and my dad’s Liberace
[Kon Artis]
No matter how bad the beatin, I went to school cheatin
My dad whooped my ass at a PTA meetin
Stick with school I had to have nuts just to do it
Got bored and became truant
When I had the gall to go I just couldn’t do it
I was lured into corners by the peer pressure shit
How would you feel if you was held by the tip of a barrel
Gettin threatened to get your skin ripped to bone marrow
Bet suburban kids never got rushed for their apparel
like me, outcast, last in class
First to leave, when the teacher called on me
Best believe I had somethin up my sleeve
[Eminem]
I’ve been praised and labelled as crazed
My mother was unable to raise me, full of crazy rage
An angry teenager, nothin can change me back
Gangsta rap made me act like a maniac
I was boostin, so influenced by music I used it
as an excuse to do shit, ooh I was stupid
No one can tell me nothin hip-hop overwhelmed me
to the point where it had me in a whole ‘nother realm
It was like isolatin myself was healthy
It felt like we was on welfare but wealthy
Compelled me to excel in school, it failed me
Expelled me and when the principal would tell me
I was nothin, and I wouldn’t amount to shit
I made my first million and counted it
Now look at, a fuckin drop-out that quits
Stupid as shit, rich as fuck, and proud of it
That’s why
[Chorus]
[Swifty McVay]
I was raised with a rifle and mask
Steadily beatin my psychiatrist ass just for askin about my past
(bitch) I was never on that punk shit; fuckin around
can get yo’ belove abducted, smothered in blood quick
You couldn’t pay Swift to give a fuck
Was crazy like my father, it musta been poison in that nigga’s nut
Far as probation, fuck peein in cups
I violate at any time, let ’em see the blunt
I grew up steadily masturbatin inside of cells
Young as hell, havin conversations with myself
You could tell I wasn’t lenient, a disobedient
Lynched and slapped teachers, bitch I’m not readin it
You don’t know what dawgs go through, a little nigga
Sippin liquor with my old dude, what the fuck you gon’ do?
I’m quick to curse you, I told my mother that I’ma hurt you
if you ever again mention a curfew
[Kuniva]
Look, my family ignored me and I don’t like that
They don’t even listen when I tell them I’ll be right back
(Yeah whatever) This nice beautiful house ma, it don’t mean shit
Cause you know daddy’s a drunk and he don’t clean shit
And yesterday he hit me like a grown fuckin man
I couldn’t stand up to him, I just ducked and ran
I’m sick of this, I wish on Christmas
that I can get a loaded four-fifth and put a fuckin end to this
(Fuck it) I got no friends and I can’t get a bitch
Only thing I have is dirty magazines and sticky fingertips
Nothin to smile about, I’m about to lose my mind
Got me an automatic nine, now I’m ballin out
[Proof]
Wait ’til school’s over, pu-pil are people to shoot through

Not an evil monster, but a regular man
Activists have tried to shut him down. Eminem has been pictured as a monster and to some narrow minded people he is still a woman and gay hater, an evil man. He’s been protested and demonstrated against by gay and lesbian groups.
On several websites that belonged to his detractors, I have read: ‘Eminem admits to be a monster’ referring to the lyrics of ‘Without Me’:
‘ I’ve created a monster, cuz nobody wants to see Marshall no more they want Shady’ ‘
Sometimes I keep asking myself if their hatred of Eminem makes them become totally blind. Or is it just that they can’t read ?
In ‘Without Me’, Eminem doesn’t state: ‘I’m a monster’, he says: ‘I’ve created a monster’, referring to Slim Shady, his evil alter ego.
I’ve also seen such comments against Eminem: ‘If 13 years old get his lyrics, he is no lyrical genius’.
I’d rather say: ‘If 13 years old kids are subtle enough to get Eminem’s lyrics and you aren’t, I frankly doubt your degree of intelligence.’
Being closed minded is rarely a sign of intelligence.
Another example of total ignorance of the artist appears here:
‘ Bad boy rapper Eminem, formerly woman beater and gay hater, has suddenly cleaned up his act and become America’s golden boy ‘ but should we forgive him? ‘
The original article can be read on a gay.net website :
http://www.gaynetsa.co.za/DECNEWS/eminem_forgive_and_forget.htm
Have I read those words right? Eminem, a ‘formerly women beater’?
Eminem’s lyrics may be offensive. Songs like ‘Kim’ describe domestic violence. But Eminem has never ever been a woman beater. I defy anybody to prove me that Eminem was a woman beater in his past.
Even Debbie Mathers, who is certainly not in the best terms with her son, testified that her son Marshall has never been violent towards Kim:
‘One of those troubled souls was Kim Scott, who moved with us when she was 12. Marshall was about 15 and she lied about her age saying she was the same. They got together and that was it. Chaos reigned.
Until then Marshall was a normal, happy boy. She changed him, she wound him up, and they had the most terrible rows. I had to break up the cursing between them. The girl thrives on confrontation. But Marshall was never violent towards her. He may rap about raping and murdering her but he has never laid a finger on her.’
You may not believe it, but it’s precisely the song ‘Kim’ that helped me to get rid of a nightmare that haunted me for years. I have indeed experienced violence and rape in my past from a mean partner and what I have been through didn’t stop haunting me in my worst nightmares. Eminem’s song ‘Kim’ was so much full of exaggeration that I understood the song was a parody of violence. ‘Kim’ has helped me to humor the drama I’ve been through in my life and to overcome it.
Knowing Eminem’s biography very well, I never doubted the feelings Marshall had for Kim. I understood that his songs have always been a good way to get rid of his negative emotions and feelings of the moment.
Eminem a gay hater? I don’t think so. Why? Because he clearly expressed on the subject. In a former article, I have written a thread about Eminem’s use of the word’ faggot’ that usually refers to a ‘sissy’ or a ‘coward’, not to a gay person.
You may object: ‘But in the song ‘Criminal’, Eminem refers to homosexuals’:
“My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge
That’ll stab you in the head
Whether you’re a fag or lez
Or the homosex, hermaph or a trans-a-vest
Pants or dress – hate fags? the answer’s “yes”
Homophobic? nah, you’re just heterophobic
Starin at my jeans, watchin my genitals bulgin (ooh!)
That’s my motherfuckin balls, you’d better let go of em
They belong in my scrotum, you’ll never get hold of em
Hey, it’s me, versace
Whoops, somebody shot me!
And I was just checkin the mail
Get it? checkin the ‘male’?
How many records you expectin to sell
After your second lp sends you directly to jail?
C’mon!– relax guy, I like gay men
Right, ken? give me an amen (aaa-men!)”
Sure. In this song, the meaning of ‘faggot’ is clearly “gay”. But!
Eminem wrote this song is reaction to people targetting him as ‘homophobic’. Because he used to say that his English teacher wanted to have sex with him and that he was homosexual in ‘My Name Is’, he suddenly became an homophobic person in many people’s mind.
‘ My English teacher wanted to have sex in junior high
The only problem was my English teacher was a guy’ ‘
Eminem exaggerated the use of the word ‘ faggot ‘ in the Marshall Mathers LP in order to make his detractors become mad. Eminem is provocative and he laughs in advance, imagining people’s reaction while reading his lyrics.
The more you attack him, the more he will respond in a crazy way and make you look ridiculous.
You may not like Eminem, but don’t let irrational hatred totally blind up your mind : Marshall is a regular person, not a hater. His alter ego is mad and his lyrics are shocking on purpose. Yes, Eminem has indeed created a monster. Why ? Because people don’t want Marshall, they want Shady. And Slim Shady is the illest monster that has been created in Marshall Mathers’ mind. Remember that before you get mad at Eminem with no reason.
“Kim”
The song ‘ Kim ‘ has always been the media’s target and has shocked a lot of (closed minded) people. Eminem’s song has always been pictured as ‘ horrible ‘. But if you take a deeper look at the lyrics and at the context in which the song was written, you will clearly see that ‘ Kim ‘ is a desperate call for love.
This song expresses so many passionate feelings. Some people need to express their feelings in a romantic way, some others don’t. Eminem has found an original way of expressing his feelings towards Kim.
The song gently starts with sweets words addressed to Hailie. You would never guess that the whole story leads to a drama while listening to Eminem’s ‘sweet candy voice’ when he addresses to his asleep daughter.
But suddenly his voice changes to something very threatening when he begins yelling at Kim:
‘ Sit down bitch
If you move again I’ll beat the shit out of you…’
When Eminem wrote the song ‘Kim’, he was very unhappy in his love life. His anger and his immense pain are expressed in this song. He had caught kim cheating on him and felt totally betrayed.
Through his song, he makes you feel his desperate quest of love and his sadness.
He admits that he had cheated on Kim when he was 18, but he finds no exuse to her behavior, because he thinks that they’re both supposed to be adults now and not to cheat on each other like very young people are more likely to do.
Eminem admits his former mistakes, his sincerity is visible during the whole song. He feels betrayed, he suffers a lot, he is jealous. But he still loves Kim as he states it in the chorus:
‘So long, bitch you did me so wrong
I don’t wanna go on
Living in this world without you…’
Eminem completed this song in 1998, when he had broken up with Kim. As he explains it very well in his book ‘Angry Blonde’, Eminem wanted to make a love song, but not a sugarcoated love song.
‘Kim’ was just a disguised way for Eminem to tell Kim ‘My baby, I love you, come back to me…’
Marshall exposes their argument publicly and it shocks people who (by the way) have the same kind of arguments in real life. During such arguments, I admit sometimes have wished my former partners dead and also to have said things that I would never done out of anger.
An intimate friend of Marshall should avoid arguments with him, because he or she might end up in a song…
Eminem has been betrayed, he wants to kill Kim and he fantasizes about murdering his wife. It is just a way to get rid of his negative emotions. Eminem needs to share his emotions and bitterness with his audience.
Kim has cheated many times on her ex husband. Anthony Bozza, the author of ‘Whatever You Say I Am’, stated that Eminem even caught Kim cheating on him when they got back together.
Matter of fact: Kim Mathers is still alive. Eminem may be hurt by her behavior in real life, but he has always forgiven her.
People who picture Eminem as a monster are ridiculous. He is just a normal human being who expresses his feelings -with much more originality than an average person- whether he feels happy or sad.
Lynne Cheney, though, is convinced of Eminem’s misogyny. She also thinks he enjoys murdering women:
“Eminem is not the first rapper to revel in violent misogyny, but he has taken hatred of women and depictions of degrading and violating them to new levels. ‘
What a big joke! Mrs Cheney, it’s high time for you to get a sense of humor…
The female fans he has met and the women he has dated are still alive! I have never heard that he has raped nor killed any of them.
When Kim first heard the ‘Kim’ song, she seemed to react with humor:
‘ When Kim fisrt heard 97 Bonnie and Clyde she said ‘Your an as*hole…bla bla bla…but when she heard the song Kim, it’s funny because I will always remember this, we were sitting in the car. I looked at her and I said ‘Well, do you have anything to say?’ She looked over at me and said ‘Your crazy, seriously…your fuckin’ crazy!” —
But in Marshall’s darkest times, when Marshall was divorcing from Kim, she suddenly lost her sense of humor. In 2001, Kim filed a 10 Million $ lawsuit against Marshall for defamation.
Worst, she also tried to prove that Marshall was unfit to take care of Hailie and requested full custody of their daughter.
Hailie has been caught in the middle of this battle. Like she is caught in the middle of the ‘ Kim ‘ song. An innocent victim of a couple’s fight that ends tragically in the song.
In fact the song ‘ Kim ‘ parodies what million of couples are experiencing : arguments, treasons, struggles’
Of course, Eminem exaggerates and makes the story end in a tragical way. He murders Kim. The content of the story is personal. His message towards Kim is hidden, but it becomes very clear when you take a deeper look at the song :
‘ How could you treat me this way ? I’d like to kill you for what you’ve done to me, that’s why I’m doing it symbolically. My heart is in pain, Kim. I do suffer a lot. But can’t you see I cannot live without you ? Baby, come back to me. ‘
Eminem’s relationship with Kim will remain a mystery for many people. Their relationship has been commented here :
http://www.sidekickmagazine.com/feb03/lovetrain.html
Kim may not always treat him right, but Marshall has still feelings for her. Those strong feelings are reflected in his recent song ‘ I love you more ‘, which is a wonderful and touching love ballad I enjoy listening to very much.
To be fully understood, Eminem needs to be read ‘ between the lines ‘.
If you have the patience to go deep into his lyrics, you will discover a sensitive man behind the roughness of some of his lyrics.
Aww look at daddy’s baby girl
That’s daddy baby
Little sleepy head
Yesterday I changed your diaper
Wiped you and powdered you.
How did you get so big?
Can’t believe it now your two
Baby you’re so precious
Daddy’s so proud of you
Sit down bitch
If you move again I’ll beat the shit out of you
[Eminem](Eminem as Kim)
(Okay)
Don’t make me wake this baby
She don’t need to see what I’m about to do
Quit crying bitch, why do you always make me shout at you?
How could you?
Just leave me and love him out the blue
Oh, what’s a matter Kim?
Am I too loud for you?
Too bad bitch, your gonna finally hear me out this time
At first, I’m like all right
You wanna throw me out? That’s fine!
But not for him to take my place, are you out you’re mind?
This couch, this TV, this whole house is mine!
How could you let him sleep in our bed?
Look at Kim
Look at your husband now!
(No!)
I said look at him!
He ain’t so hot now is he?
Little punk!

(You’re drunk! You’re never going to get away at this!)
You think I give a fuck!
Come on we’re going for a ride bitch
(No!)
Sit up front
(Well I can’t just leave Hailie alone, what if she wakes up?)
We’ll be right back
Well I will you’ll be in the trunk

I don’t wanna go on
Living in this world without you
Repeat 1

You really did a number on me
Never knew me cheating on you would come back to haunt me
But we was kids then Kim, I was only 18
That was years ago

Oh God my brain is racing
(I love you!)

Repeat 1 (2x)
Come on get out
(I can’t I’m scared)
I said get out bitch!
(Let go of my hair, please don’t do this baby)
(Please I love you, look we can just take Hailie and leave)
Fuck you, you did this to us
You did it, it’s your fault
Oh my God I’m crackin’ up
Get a grip Marshall
Hey remember the time we went to Brian’s party?
And you were like so drunk that you threw up all over Archie
That was funny wasn’t it?
(Yes!)
That was funny wasn’t it?
(Yes!)
See it all makes sense, doesn’t it?
You and your husband have a fight
One of you tries to grab a knife
And during the struggle he accidentally gets his Adam’s apple sliced
(No!)
And while this is goin’ on
His son just woke up and he just walks in
She panics and he gets his throat cut
(Oh my God!)
So now they both dead and you slash your own throat
So now it’s double homicide and suicide with no note
I should have known better when you started to act weird
We could’ve…HEY! Where you going? Get back here!
You can’t run from me Kim
It’s just us, nobody else!
You’re only making this harder on yourself
Ha! Ha! Got’cha!
(Ahh!)
Ha! Go ahead yell!
Here I’ll scream with you!
AH SOMEBODY HELP!
Don’t you get it bitch, no one can hear you?
Now shut the fuck up and get what’s comin to you
You were supposed to love me
{*Kim choking*}
NOW BLEED! BITCH BLEED!
BLEED! BITCH BLEED! BLEED!
Repeat 1 (2x)
Eminem, a social commentator
In an interview given to Musik Magazine in 2000, Eminem comments some of his lyrics:
‘Please Lord, this boy needs Jesus/Help this child, help him destroy these demons/Please send me a brand new car and a prostitute while my wife is sick in the hospital’. What I’m trying to say is we’ve got all these preachers going ‘Jesus, Jesus! And then they’re molesting kids. I’m taking stabs at crooked muthafuckers in the system. (Eminem)
Believe it or not, but Eminem feels concern for kids. He is a denonciator of our society’s hypocrisy. Some people don’t like it when the truth gets exposed like this. But in the end only truth matters. Eminem’s words will shock you, stab you, pull away your old fashioned way of thinking : he is a commentator of our society’s deseases and should be taken seriously, because he does his job very well. Between his funny and dark humored lines, Eminem has something serious to say. The theme of the perverted priest also appears in the ‘ Role Model ‘ video where you can see the priest caressing a young boy’s knee.
Parents, you should be more worried for your kids being abused by priest than by Eminem’s so called ‘ bad influence ‘. Eminem won’t rape your kids’
How many paedophiles priests have tried to abuse young children? How many scandals involving young kids the Vatican has been confronted to? How many scandals the Vatican is currently trying to hide?
If you check out this website, you will find out that there is an alarming number of sex affairs involving priests and children:
http://www.licatholic.com/news.htm
I’ve been confronted to Christian fanatics from different tendencies and I noticed that they all has something in common. While considering themselves as ‘saints’ and calling people who didn’t belong to their organizations ‘sinners’, they were in fact perfect hypocrits. They were playing two different roles and were acting like two different persons whether they were at Church of at home. At Chuch, they were trying to hide their own dirty behavior. At home, they were swearing, disrespecting their wifes and children, hiding some dirty magazines and tapes. And of course, they considered themselves as ‘saved by Jesus’ while other people were (you guessed it) lost.
What an hypocritical behavior!
Eminem fights against such hypocrisy. He describes things the way they are. He also expressed against Bill Clinton’s hypocrisy:
‘ When someone says kids look up to me, I’m like ‘Our president smokes weed and is getting his dick sucked and is fucking lying about it. So don’t tell me shit. I’m not the fucking president. I’m a rapper and I don’t want to be a role model’. I’ll tell a kid, ‘Look up to me as someone who’s come from nothing and now has everything. Don’t look up to me for being violent and doing drugs. Don’t be like me.’ ‘
Eminem’s got a clear message for kids (and also for adults). Look at things the way they are. Don’t try to escape from reality. Look at it in its entire uglyness and try to learn a lesson from it.
To the kids, he clearly wants to say that he’s not their role model, but that they can learn from his story. Eminem encourages a lot of kids who come from poor social classes. He has shown the that they can ‘ make it ‘ if they are determined to.
He is not the fool some parents want to make of him. He never encourages them to be violent nor to take drugs.
