Kim still missing

Despite rumors and mumblings in the court system that she may soon turn herself in, the ex-wife of rapper Eminem remains a fugitive at large on two distinct drug cases and has lost custody of her daughter to the hip-hop star.
Warrants remain pending for the arrest of Kimberly S. Mathers, 28, of Clinton Township, and an order filed early this week in Macomb County Circuit Court ascribes temporary custody of her 7-year-old daughter to Marshall Bruce Mathers, aka rapper Eminem.

“(Eminem) shall have sole legal and physical custody of the minor child, Hailie … until she attains the age of 18 or until further order of the court,” an order signed by Circuit Judge Antonio P. Viviano states. “Kimberly Scott Mathers’ parenting time is suspended as long as she remains a fugitive, or until further order… .”

Mrs. Mathers has been missing since Nov. 1, when a tether placed on her for failing to appear in court on drug charges indicated she had left her restricted area. Judge John Chmura of 37th District Court issued a bench warrant for her arrest the following week.
John Courie, a Macomb County assistant prosecutor handling one of the cases against Mathers, said he has heard from another attorney claiming that she will turn herself in sometime later this month, but no official plans were made and as far as he knows she remains wanted for arrest.
“This new attorney had said he apparently talked to her and it’s all set,” Courie said. “But her current attorney, or previous one, supposedly knew nothing of it. So who knows?”
Michael J. Smith, an attorney who has been representing Mrs. Mathers in the drug cases, did not return repeated phone calls seeking comment this week.
The Warren drug case stems from a Sept. 29 hotel party raided by Warren police, who found marijuana and the designer drug ecstasy inside. Ms. Mathers did not have any drugs in her possession at the time, but police said she had rented the room and so she is charged with maintaining a drug house, a 2-year misdemeanor.
She also had a pending drug case from St. Clair Shores from earlier in the year, where police stopped the Cadillac Escalade she was driving and found cocaine allegedly belonging to her and another occupant in the vehicle.
She was placed on a tether after missing one or more previous court dates in that case before Macomb County Circuit Judge Edward Servitto. After she went missing again Nov.1, Servitto scheduled a show cause hearing in court the following week and then issued a bench warrant when she didn’t attend. Officials haven’t located her since, and Smith has said in the past he is concerned about his client.
“Mr. Mathers has no ill will toward her, and he wishes her well and hopes she is doing well,” said his divorce attorney, Harvey Hauer, who sought the custody change after she went missing. “But I have no knowledge of her current whereabouts.”
Mrs. Mathers shares one child, daughter Hailie, with Eminem and has one other child from another relationship, officials said this week

Eminem’s Scots heritage rapped up

A HIGHLAND film company has discovered that Eminem, the world’s most famous – and infamous – rapper, is actually a Scot.
The Black Isle firm Move On Up traced hip-hop star Eminem’s ancestors back more than 200 years for a television programme and found he has Scottish blood on both sides of his family.
On his father’s side, the company found a Peter Mathers, from Pennsylvania, who married a Scottish woman.
The singer, who was born in Detroit, is also descended from Ailsa McAllister, an Edinburgh woman born in 1847, on his mother’s side.
The star’s real name, Marshall Mathers III, is his most obvious link to Scotland, as the name originates from the Barclay clan.
The television programme, Eminem’s Celtic Connections, also compares the superstar with Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.
Maureen White, who directed the programme,
said: “Eminem is truly and definitely Scottish in his genes.
“We managed to get his family tree to him and it is just a case of whether he picks up on it or not.”
She added: “We could not get anyone to say a bad word about him. The general response was regardless of what you think of him, the man is a genius.
“He is saying our society is misogynistic, racist and homophobic. Just because a singer sings in the first person it does not mean that those views expressed are his own.
“We are posing the question whether an expression of someone’s creativity is nature or nurture,” Ms White said.
“Is it important that Eminem has Scottish genes or is it because he is white trailer-trash, or is it a combination of those factors?
“We make a comparison between Eminem and Burns – and a former professor of English at Cambridge University says they can stand side by side.
“It is like Burns in his day was shunned because he had a child and all of a sudden society decided they didn’t like him any more. Eminem is certainly a man for a’ that.”
Don Coutts, the owner of Move On Up, says he is a fan of the controversial star. He added: “He is a very talented guy and I have become a big fan since doing the film.
“His record company know we are making it but I don’t think they wanted to get involved because they tend to like things they can control.
“We interviewed a woman from the Burns Society and she spoke away about Eminem. She didn’t think people in 200 years would be celebrating an Eminem night.
“Personally I think he is a genius. I have all his stuff, and everything he says in interviews is always way out there. He gives you a lot of material to work and play with.”
Eminem’s Celtic Connections is presented by Zevi Watmaugh and will be broadcast on BBC2 on 30 Novemb

Gotta search the inner strength inside of you…

Cause sometimes you just feel tired.
You feel weak and when you feel weak you feel like you wanna just give up.
But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength
and just pull that shit out of you and get that motivation to not give up
and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.

Those words dropped out of the song ‘Till I collapse’ from the Eminem Show are much more than a lesson about how to behave when you’re experiencing bad times, they are a real life philosophy. When you are in a bad mood, when everything seems so dark, you can be tempted to give up your dreams and hopes. Eminem constantly brings us back to the importance of the willpower. It is always so easy not to go to the end when we feel weak or depressed. Most of the people make this choice. But is this choice the right choice? Certainly not!
It is really uncomfortable to live one’s whole life with broken dreams. Of course, going to the end requires a lot of personal efforts and sacrifices, but you will be rewarded for them . You have something to win. That’s why you need to find that inner strength and motivation Eminem is talking about. Nobody will do this for you, you will have to do it by yourself.
Eminem has shown so many times by his own example that it is worth having faith in yourself and following your dreams.
The sentence: “You can do anything you set your mind to, man” summarizes it very well.
Marshall encourages people to follow their dreams the way he did :

If there’s something that you want to do and you work hard enough at it, you’ll do it. But you have to know that’s what you want to do, whatever it is. If it’s riding bikes, if it’s painting cars, whatever it is, if you want to do it bad enough and you have your heart set on it and that’s your dream, don’t give up your fucking dream.

Those words are a real encouragement and teach us not to give up our dream. The answer is inside of you. You have to believe in yourself. There is no specific receipt for each individual, but if you apply to this and if you work hard at it, you will be on your way to the road of success.

Eminem’s words: a therapy for mishandled kids

In the song ‘Fight Music’ from D12, Eminem states :
‘ If I could capture the rage of today’s youth and bottle it
Crush the glass from my bare hands and swallow it’ ‘

Eminem understands today’s youth’s problems very well. He stands very close to young people, growing up in a fatherless home with an abusive drug addicted mom. He understands what kids may be going through with irresponsible parents who don’t take time for them and who are physically and verbally abusive towards them. He goes on in the same song:
‘ I came to save these new generations of babies
from parents who failed to raise ’em cause they’re lazy’ ‘

In his song ‘Sing for the Moment’ from the Eminem Show, Eminem travels through the thoughts of a teenager whose anger keeps growing against his stepfather. He is surrounded by violence and retaliates with violence.

“He’s a problem child, what bothers him all comes out
When he talks about his fuckin’ dad walkin out
Cos he hates him so bad that he blocks him out
But if he ever saw him again, he’d prolly knock him out
His thoughts are whacked, he’s mad so he’s talkin’ back
Talkin black, brainwashed from rock and rap
He sags his pants, 2 rags and a stocking cap
His step-father hit him so he socked him back
And broke his nose, this house is a broken home
There’s no control, he just lets his emotions go
Come on… “

Kids like him find their only solace in the music. Eminem is conscious as an entertainer to bring something positive to angry and abused children who go through hopeless situations. He says that he sings for them in particular :

“It’s why we sing for these kids that don’t have a thing
Except for a dream and a fucking rap magazine…”

Eminem’s own story teaches those kids that you can succeed despite a hard childhood.
President Bush stated several years ago that ‘ Eminem is the biggest threat to kids since polio. ‘ Does he offer any kind of therapy to those kids who will probably be hurt for life? Adults who live in their confortable lives won’t be able to understand easily the rage of ghetto kids who probably experienced more dramas than they will in their entire life. Many adult kids specialists are not close enough to them to investigate their minds.
I don’t even think psychiatrists will be able to help them to work out those problems. As far as I am concerned, music is the best way to cure negative emotions that need to escape from our soul. As long as we keep those negative emotions deep inside, we will feel sick and hurt. Being asked for himself if he needed some therapy in an MTV interview by Kurt Loder, Eminem replied :

No, I don’t. I feel like I don’t need therapy. I feel like my music is my therapy. Because once I sit down and write, I get everything off my chest. People might think that I walk around mad all day, and I’m not, you know what I’m saying? For the most part I’m happy. I get all my aggression out in the studio. When I leave the studio, I’m like, “Whew.”

The same words that cured him will also help thousands of young people to get rid of their rage.
Singing is a good way to express the rage that we feel inside and step by step, we will see it vanish. This actually happened to me.
‘Cleaning Out My Closet’ is a song that should be taken seriously as a therapy for many mishandled kids. It will certainly help to prevent from children abuse. The video is impressing : it is a travel through different life periods, the scariest vision is Eminem as an adult watching himself as a kid. It’s like watching a science fiction film. The pain is present in the whole video : at home, at church, digging Debbie’s grave. Some people accuse Eminem of being a selfish whining man who is self-obsessed and who only talks about his own problems. Even if his music seems to be self-centred at first sight, it delivers a strong message of hope to many young people. They will realize through his example that they can succeed, no matter what abusive parents did to them. A cured mind will help them to the way of success.

Eminem’s rhymes : an authentic style

In one of his freestyles from his movie ‘ 8 Mile ‘, Eminem claims :
‘ Your style is generic/Mine is authentic made… ‘
Eminem’s rhymes and music are so particular that you could recognize him easily among thousand other rappers. This is not due to his skin color, but to the authenticity and creativity of his rhymes.
In my point of view, Eminem gets a lot of appreciation from people because of his great rhyming ability, but also because the songs he wrote refer to authentic feelings that come out of his chest. It is well known that Eminem spends hours studying words in his dictionnary in order to find new words to rhyme.
When the inspiration comes to him, he needs to write them down, no matter where. That’s how he used to do as a kid :

I like to throw my ideas just scattered on to paper. When I was busing tables, I’d write ’em on my hands or on receipts. I wrote rhymes on the wall in my old house right above my bed. I did it in pencil but one time when I went to wipe it off, I wiped off the paint. My mom fuckin’ flipped.

People also appreciate the fact that the talented rapper uses the words to speaking his mind. All the tragic events and emotions he went through are used in a creative way. All kind dramas, emotions and thoughts are canalized in Eminem’s music. Eminem’s rhymes are much more than just a couple of beats and cusswords. He has brought hip hop lyrics to a high level of poetry.
Even if some listeners are less sensitive to Eminem’s high level of skills, Eminem manages to convince them through his originality. He doesn’t rap about big cars and jewels, he raps about himself, he lets true emotions out, he raises real social issues. Eminem sounds convincing, because he keeps it real. He never tries to manipulate his public nor to fake himself. He has the sincerity to expose his own mistakes publicly.
He may be the most wanted rapper on the planet, but he always keeps simple.
His simplicity makes the greatness of the man, because Marshall Mathers is a genuine per

Stimulating, entertaining, but also telling the truth

Eminem is a master in provocating people. He loves it and he does it particularly well. Most of the time, his own amusement is created by the reaction of some closed- minded people. A reaction he anticipates most of the time for the greatest amusement of his public.
The statements he makes are well choosen to make them intentionally mad.
A good example comes from the song ‘ Kill You ‘ from the Marshall Mathers LP:
‘ They said I can’t rap about bein broke no more
They say I can’t rap about coke no more
(AHHH!) Slut, you think I won’t choke no whore
Till the vocal cords don’t work in her throat no more?!
(AHHH!) These motherfuckers are thinkin I’m playin
Thinkin I’m sayin the shit cause I’m thinkin it just to be sayin it ‘

Eminem enjoys small-minded people to look ridiculous and to make fun of them:
‘ On stage I’m the average small-minded, conservative American who rejects anything that is different. I like taking on this role in order to show people just how ridiculous they are. Some people just don’t understand me and they take my irony at face value. ‘
Despite the fact many of his lyrics are to take at a second degree, Eminem also offers an realistic vision of America. America has often been idealized as a wealthy country, where anybody can succeed. In the mind of many people, America is the land of the Freedom Of Speech.
Eminem pictures another vision of the United States : a land of killers, racial discrimination, restricted Speech and censorship, where many white people experience poverty’ Eminem is a real threat to the Establishment, because he doesn’t lie about facts the government would prefer to hide. No wonder that a great majority of Americans think the rapper’s rhymes are more credible that President Bush’s (empty) speeches.
Eminem is conscious of both sides : on the one hand, he wants to entertain, but on the other hand he also has a message to deliver about the American policy.
If we take a look at the song ‘ Stimulate ‘, a bonus track from the 8 Mile soundtrack, you can easily discover how much the artist enjoys entertaining his audience :
“I’m only entertaining you
My goal is to stimulate, making you high
And take you and I
To a place you can’t see
But I believe you can fly
I don’t mean nobody harm, I’m just partying
I’m not your dad, not your mom, not your guardian
Just a man who’s on the mic
So let me entertain you…”

His lyrics are constantly targetted by the Congress and that’s one good reason why Eminem drops bombs against them :
‘ My lyrical content is constantly under fire
No wonder why I constantly bomb back
To combat attacks with constant concepts
When lyrics are constantly took outta context
Failure to communicate with congress has
Been a problem for the longest, I guess
But maybe one day we can make some progress
Food for thought – see how long it takes to digest
Feeling good when I should be ashamed ‘ ‘

He’s giving the government some food for thought.
Maybe they will understand what he’s talking about, because he uses the Constitution as a weaopon to fight them.
“Constantly moving, constantly using the constitution
As a form of restitution
Bless the children, nothing less than brilliant”

I particularly like the sentence ‘ Bless the children, nothing less than brilliant ‘.
Eminem connects to the young people easily, because he dresses like them and he speaks their language. The youth is open minded and understands his speech well. The youth is also tired of the government ‘s policy. Young people want somebody who is able to understand the problems they’re experiencing. They are tired of being lied to by the Bush administration. In fact, the youth is also conscious of being used for Mr Bush’s war against Iraq. So many young lives are taken for a useless war.
Eminem is a rebel to this fake democracy, he’s a real spokesman for the misunderstood youth. His fight is political, he’s appealing to people’s conscience not to accept any speech from the government without thinking before. Marshall wants to show people how corrupt politicians are and how much they want to serve only their own interest and to use young soldiers as puppets to invade and impose their policy abroad.
“All this terror, America demands action
Next thing you know, you’ve got Uncle Sam’s ass askin’
To join our army, or what you do for their navy
You just a baby gettin’ recruited at 18
You’re on a plane now eatin’ that food and that baked beans
I’m 28, they gon take you ‘fore they take me
Crazy insane or insane crazy?
When i say Hussein, you say Shady!
My views ain’t changed to lean humane way for
Rain 2 days late, the date’s today
Hey team!”

The ‘ Without Me ‘ video offers both perspectives and that makes it particularly interesting. It is entertaining and amusing, you can see a succession of interesting characters like Debbie, Elvis Presley and Ossama Ben Laden.
The picture of Ben Laden’s surrender certainly helps people to relax after the drama of September the 11th. The best way to overcome traumas is to manage to relax and laugh, no matter how tragic the event is.
Mr Mathers has proven to be a better therapist than Mr Bush in that way.

Eminem, 50 Cent and Dr Dre to appear in a new game

… And it could be being developed by Grand Theft Auto coders Rockstar
Eminem, 50 Cent and Dr Dre are all lined up to appear in an as-yet-untitled new game that will apparently bear similarity to Grand Theft Auto.
Speaking in an interview with San Francisco radio station KMEL, 50 Cent also revealed that his backing group G-Unit will be included in the game.
What makes this all the more interesting though is that, back in July, little known developers Conspiracy Entertainment sued Eminem for pulling out of a deal that would allow them to use his likeness in games – after Eminem’s management apparently secured a more lucrative deal with, yes, GTA publishers Rockstar.
Whether Eminem’s deal with Rockstar will end up being the same game that 50 Cent was referring to remains to be seen. We’ll keep you posted…

Paparazzo files lawsuit against 50 Cent

A New York Post photographer wants more than change from rapper 50 Cent ‘ about $21 million more.
Shutterbug James Alcorn filed a lawsuit in Queens County Supreme Court seeking damages from the multiplatinum rapper after 50’s bodyguards, he claims, roughed him up on August 27. Alcorn had been taking photos of 50 Cent exiting the store of Jacob the Jeweler in midtown Manhattan.
Alcorn and his attorney filed the complaint against 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson), his record companies ‘ Interscope, Aftermath and Shady Records ‘ and seven unnamed security guards that the plaintiffs hope to identify.
Alcorn claims he suffered “severe and serious injuries” from the assault, which the suit states was done “knowingly, intentionally and willfully.” The complaint asks for a little over $5 million for each of four causes of action: assault and battery, negligence, loss of service and punitive damages.
While no criminal charges have been filed against 50 Cent or any of his bodyguards, the New York Police Department’s investigation is ongoing. Alcorn is hopeful. “No photographer should have what happened to me, happen to them,” he said in a statement.
50 Cent’s spokespeople had no comment on the suit.

Eminem, a role model?

Eminem : a role model ?
Difficult question, but we should dare asking. It may raise a lot of controversy, but we should try to analyse Eminem’s influence. I’d say that it actually depends on what kind of people access to his lyrics and life story.
The only great danger is the misinterpretation of his lyrics. Personally, I don’t think Eminem endangers the youth. Ghetto kids, no matter what color they are, are used to strong language anyway and usually get his jokes. Suburban kids are more likely to misinterpret his lyrics, but their parents should take their responsibilities seriously. Knowing that Eminem’s lyrics are aimed at an adult audience, they could advice them to buy clean versions of his albums. The parental advisory sticker reminds the parents of their responsibility in front of their kids. They should allow their kids to listen to any kind of music they want to, but just be careful and help them not to misinterpret it and to act foolishly in real life. But they should never forbid their kids to enjoy the music they like.
If you ask me if Eminem is a role model for me, I’d say yes, because he showed me a great model of perseverance and faith. His music has been a therapy for me in so many ways. Like anybody of us, Marshall Mathers has also made some mistakes in his life that could have even cost him his career as a superstar, but he has learnt a lot from his former mistakes. He has shown more maturity in his personal life and also in his lyrics from his latest albums. I think Eminem’s fanbase understands this very well and is not endangered by him nor by his lyrics.
Eminem joked about the misinterpretation of his lyrics in his song ‘Role Model’. It is done on purpose. You cannot take his statements seriously.
“I came to the club drunk with a fake ID
Don’t you wanna grow up to be just like me!
I’ve been with 10 women who got HIV
Now don’t you wanna grow up to be just like me!
I got genital warts and it burns when I pee
Don’t you wanna grow up to be just like me!
I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree
You probably wanna grow up to be just like me!!! “

Would you like to imitate a man who claims to tie a rope around his penis and to jump from a tree ? Unless you’re brainless, you won’t imitate such actions. Those sarcastic sentences are put here on purpose to make you understand how foolish and irealistic those statements are.
In fact, the biggest threat comes from intolerant conservative people who constantly target Eminem as a bad person by taking intentionally his lyrics out of their context in order to shut him down.
Marshall Mathers is not the root of all evil. Take a look at his real side and you will clearly understand that he’s not a hate monger who wants to degrade society’s values, but a sensitive artist who is craking jokes most of the time and who teaches us to humor ourselves!

Eminem, a misogynist?

Eminem has misogynistic sounding lyrics. But do those lyrics necessarely make a big misogynist of him in real life?
Of course he has talked about ‘ bitches and hos ‘ that should be ‘ raped and murdered ‘. If his lyrics are taken literally, they will shock many people. But we know that his statements are made intentionally to shock people’s consciences. As I stated it before, most of the time, people don’t take enough time to examine Eminem’s lyrics carefully. If they did, it would certainly help to avoid a lot of misunderstandings. I sometimes wish they just took time to read one song from the beginning to the end to understand those statements are not to be taken seriously.
Eminem pictures some scenes of domestic violence like in the song ‘ Kim ‘ which ends tragically. It is just a fantasy, but it also refers to domestic violence that exists in real life. Eminem hasn’t invented domestic violence nor has he invented misogyny. In fact, sexist behavior does exist particularly among conservative classes who usually take the rapper’s lyrics out of their context to justify their hatred of him.
We know that Eminem’s dark side in his songs is also a therapy to express the problem he experienced with the two women who had an important influence in his life: his mom and his ex-wife.
It’s a way to get freed from Debbie’s abusive behavior and from Kim’s infidelity.
Eminem stated that he had problems with women in his life, but he also stated that he does not consider women in general as ‘ bitches ‘ :
“I bitch, yeah. I have a fairly salty relationship with women and it’s always been like that. But most of the time, when I’m saying shit about women, when I’m saying ‘bitches’ and ‘hos’, its so ridiculous that I’m taking the stereotypical rapper to the extreme. I don’t hate women in general. They just make me mad sometimes.”
He’s just playing ladies, as you should know’
And when he feels angry about a ‘ bitch ‘ or ‘ slut ‘ in one of his songs, it is just the expression of his feeling of the moment.
‘ My thoughts are so fucking evil when I’m writing shit, if I’m mad at my girl, I’m gonna write the most misogynistic fucking rhyme in the world. It’s not how I feel in general, it’s how I feel at the moment ‘.
If Eminem was a real misogynist, he wouldn’t have stated that he doesn’t consider women in general as bitches. If we look at the facts, he’s been in a long term relationship with Kim. He has expressed his love for Kim many times and some of his friends like Proof testify that his feelings for Kim have always been true.
Both have a little girl ‘ Hailie Jade- in common. A misogynist wouldn’t show so much concern and love for his daughter.
Eminem has also adopted Dawn’s (Kim’s twin sister) little girl who currently lives with Hailie.
He even intended to adopt Whitney, Kim’s second daughter from another man.
If he despised female gender, would he allow so many girls to share is every day life ?
The facts have shown by themselves that Marshall Mathers is a very different person than the character he plays on stage.
His role is to entertain you. So just enjoy the show and don’t take the statements he makes in his songs so seriou
