Kim’s rehabilitation programm
To all the people who still take the song ‘Kim’ literally, let me tell you this: Eminem’s ex wife Kim is very lucky to have Marshall to take care of her and her kids.
After serving a 30 days sentence for her cocaine charges, Kim is now in Memphis. She precisely spends some time at the Sacred Heart Rehabilitaion Center in Tennessee. Her reahabilitation programm costs Eminem the huge amount of $50,000:

People who know Eminem will know that he doesn’t pay out of obligation, but out of love for his family. Hailie has been through hard times since her mom has been incarcerated and she certainly misses her a lot.
Eminem feels concerned by Kim’s well being.
Appearently, Kim was facing a lot of problems in jail. A spokeswoman from the jail she had been incarcerated in said:
‘Kim was having problems in jail, but she did serve her entire 30 days.”
If we believe Todd Nelson’s statements, her detention conditions weren’t that good:
“She’s relieved to be out of prison and out of that jumpsuit. Now she can wear her own clothes, have a private room and get better food.’
It is also known that Kim has ‘country club’ priviledges at the center. Eminem and Hailie are expected to visit her soon.
No matter what he’s been through because of Kim, Eminem’s forgiveness is wonderful. Hopefully Kim will realize how much Marshall is devoted to her and her children and stop taking drugs for her family’s
Has Eminem seen the light?
Before the Eminem Show was released, it was rumored that it would have a gospel style. Some music journalists have spread the news all around on music channels. But those journalists didn’t seem to know the D12 crew very well. The D12 like cracking jokes and those statements about Eminem were obviously big jokes :
‘ He’s “seen the light,” , and it’s going to reflect in his music. Eminem is trading in his hardcore hip-hop MO and going the gospel rap route on his new LP, “The Eminem Show.”
Proof also added sarcastically :
“Em is about to open a church, and we’re gonna be his deacons'”
Even if the D12 were joking, it is true that ‘ The Eminem Show ‘ is different from the former Eminem albums. It shows more maturity in Eminem’s work and it talks about serious subject matters.
The Eminem Show pictures a man who has learnt from his former mistakes, a man who has given up drugs and who wants to expose his deep love for his daughter.
He also admits his weaknesses publicly when he says ‘ My insecurities could eat me alive ‘ in ‘ Hailie’s Song ‘.
The Eminem Show is also an open letter to Debbie for her to realize her mistakes and to admit she was wrong. Eminem wants to expose his pain publicly, but also to get rid of his demons from the past.
The Eminem Show is the work of a mature man. A man who also wants us to think about political issues. A man who wants to help us to humor even tragical events such as September the 11th.
Eminem’s album may be different from his preceding albums, but some detail haven’t changed : he is still a tender and caring father, he is still rebellious.
I do believe that he has ‘ seen the light ‘ in some way. The more mature he becomes, the more introspective he is. He is teaching anybody of us a lesson that could be summarized in two words : faith and determination. Determination is a theme that will probably continued in the next album he is currently working on. No doubt that ‘ To Be Determined ‘ will positively surprise us.
A man of faith will teach us great lessons about life if we’re open minded enough to listen t
A devoted family man: Eminem
‘I don’t want to end up rich and alone.’ (Eminem)
Marshall, who has known poverty is very conscious that money can’t buy him love. He’s a devoted and caring family man. After all and despite all his ex wife Kim has put him through, (he expresses it in his recent song ‘I love you more’), he still has feelings for her. When Marshall knew about Kim’s jail sentence, he was totally devastated. According to ‘Star Magazine’, Marshall cried: “Oh man, my Pooh Bear,30 days in the can!”
About Kim’s jail sentence, Todd Nelson says :
“She’s having a tough time of it in jail. She’s in the general prison population, but if there are any problems she could be placed in protective custody. After all, she was the wife of a big celebrity and still has strong ties to him.”
On the cover of a New Mag issue, you can see a picture of Marshall crying. Sometimes, he feels like his problems are too heavy to bear.
Since June 2003, Marshall had to face a lot of legal trouble. Worried about the fact his daughter could end up in a foster home when Kim was caught with some cocaine in her car, Marshall had to ask very fast for Hailie’s custody while he was touring. Eminem was also worried about losing Whitney, Kim’s second daughter with Eric Hartter, who lives with him. When Kim went back to Eminem in 2002, Marshall accepted to raise Whitney as his own daughter. But Mary, Eric Hartter’s mom sued Marshall in order to have some visitation rights.
Although Kim has tried to prove that Eminem was unfit to raise Hailie in 2001, the judge ruled that he was a ‘loving, devoted’ father and he allowed him to share custody.
Not even his worst enemies would deny the love Marshall feels for his little daughter. Hailie Jade is the best gift life has given to Marshall and he wants to be the best father for her.
It is even known that Marshall did anything possible to go home early after the 8 Mile Premiere. He wanted to be able to drive Hailie at school next morning.
Eminem has battled to reunite his family. As his grandmother Betty Kresin points it out, he is very family orientated:
‘He loves Kim and Hailie. He is a terrific father and very family orientated.
‘He doesn’t have a nanny.
‘He loves children. If he had his way he’d have a lot of children. He always wanted to a family.’
J.R Watkins, Kim’s cousin describes Marshall as a very good father:
“He’s a very good daddy. He’s trying to give Hailie more of a normal life than he had.”
Eminem’s former neighbor, Mary Russo, can testify that she often saw Daddy and daughter having fun out of their house:
Neighbours at his old house say he was always out playing with Hailie:
‘He dotes on her.
‘He scooters round the block with her on her bike. They are always giggling and having fun.’
A source that is close to Eminem said that Hailie expressed the wish to live full time with her daddy after Kim’s legal problems:
‘Hailie has indicated she wants to live with her dad full time and given Kim’s track record with drink and this latest drug arrest, Eminem believes he has a real chance of custody.
‘But he will only do it with Hailie’s blessing. He won’t do anything to hurt her.’
Eminem would sacrifice anything for his little girl and he deserves a lot of admiration for that.
Often described as a complete asshole and a bad boy by the media, Marshall is certainly not the horrible monster some people would like you to believe he is.
Marshall is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with kids. Jerry Watkins can testify it: while she was cooking (at the time she was in good terms with Eminem), Marshall was playing around with her daughters and Hailie disguised as Kermit The Frog.
Betty Kresin is so right about it. Life should be easy for Marshall now, but he is still struggling and facing a lot of problems:
‘He has to wear a bullet-proof vest sometimes because of threats from rappers and people who used to work for him. He should be sitting on Easy Street. But instead, he’s still struggling.”
Stephania Synod, who is a senior student at Warren Lincoln High School summarizes it well.
“He has a lot of repressed anger and when he raps about that everyone always hates on him’
“Coming from this neighborhood, we understand how it is. It’s cool knowing someone coming from south Warren can become something great. It kind of gives me hope. And when he talks about how much he loves his daughter, it just shows that he has a heart and he’s not all hard-core rap.”
Marshall has a big heart for his daughter and for his family. He has a heart for his loyal fans. He is a role model for a youth that will look at his life story and learn from it that you ‘can do anything you set your mind to.’
Ain’t Nuttin But Music
You just started listening to ‘ Ain’t Nuttin’ But Music ‘ ?
Before getting offended by the provocative song, relax a little. Don’t take each word so seriously and have some fun listening to the song. Remember, those words are supposed to entertain and not to piss you off.
Eminem attacks Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Britney Spears in particular, gets dissed a bad way with a huge amount of details concerning her sexual life. He jokes about some fake pics of him penetrating Britney that you can find on the Internet, pretending that he fabricated those pics :
http://www.portesexe.com/TGP-9/image11.htm
He also makes jokes about Britney rejecting him. You need to realize that Eminem doesn’t always mean what he says on his records. Eminem doesn’t hate Britney Spears nor Christina Aguilera.
Check out Britney and Christina’s email to Eminem and Eminem’s response on Brachman.com. I don’t know how reliable this info is, but it is interesting :
http://www.brachman.com/jb_eminem-britney-christina-letter.htm
What is targetted most in ‘ Aint Nuttin’ But Music ‘ more than Britney and Christina is the fake world of pop artists Marshall didn’t want to be assimilated to because of his bleached blonde hair. He’s a gansgta rapper, not some sugarcoated pop artist who composes sugar sweet melodies just to please you.
He expressed the same point in his ‘ Marshall Mathers ‘ song :
‘ Now because of this blonde mop that’s on top
And this fucked up head that I’ve got, I’ve gone pop? ‘
Bizarre goes on making some jokes about the Backstreet Boys and Michael Jackson. The whole world of pop is severely attacked , nobody can escape to the bullets that are spread by the D12 group.
The song is also making fun of parents who get mad at the lyrics :
‘Ur mom and dad probably mad at us, we did turned their kids into little body snatchers…’
Not only some parents, but also the media get mad at the lyrics of the song. The medias’ censorship is hypocritical, as Swifty intelligently points it out:
‘it’s only music, media know it, but they blind…’
So many people have tried to shut Eminem and his fellows down:
‘u people get offended, i dont care
(stop cryin)
tryin to get us to leave…’
Eminem and his fellows from D12 enjoy writing their lyrics. Rapping is their passion and their job is to entertain. It is so simple to relax and just to enjoy the music. The sentences are funny and ‘of course- not to be taken literally.
The D12 have been accused of ‘making money by exploiting the world’s misery’ or to be responsible of ‘society’s decay’.
In fact, some parts of the ‘Devil’s Night’ album are the mirror of a decadent society. The D12 album describes this decadent society with a lot of humor.
Feminists may get offended by these lines:
‘For all the independent women in the house
show us ur tits and shut ur mother fuckin mouths…’
The D12 are making fun of this world and they want you to relax and laugh with them:
‘What’s goin on in the world today? people fightin, feudin, lootin, its ok
let it go, let it flow, let the good times roll, tell em dre
(drdre)it aint nuttin but music
whats goin on in the world today? people fightin, feudin, lootin, its ok
let it go, let it flow, let the good times roll, tell em dre
(drdre)it aint nuttin but music…’
The chorus explains it to you, it’s high time you chilled out instead of worrying.
It ain’t nothing but words and music…

Straight R&B, Straight R&B, Straight R&B
Shit Hits The Fan
‘ Shit Hits The Fan ‘ gives you another taste of Eminem’s collaboration with Obie Trice and Dr Dre.
The song from Obie’s album ‘ Cheers ‘ makes the enemies of the Shady camp look totally ridiculous. They are pictured as big cowards. Ja Rule is targetted in front line.
The Shady camp is all about loyalty and Eminem knows that his fans are, most of the time, genuine and loyal people. A crowd of zillion who are ready to back him as well as the Shady camp:
‘ What you gonna do when shit hits the fan
Are you gonna stand and fight like a man?
Will you be as hard as you say you are?
Or you gonna run and go get your bodyguard?
I said What you gonna do when shit hits the fan?
Are you gonna stand and fight like a man?
And show us you’re as hard as you say you are?
Or you gonna run and go get your bodyguard? ‘
Dr Dre explains the struggle of some rappers to get their own label. His verse is also a clear allusion to his former deceased fellow Easy E who founded Ruthless Records he founded by using the money he had made from drug deals :
‘ Niggaz is so gangsta, Niggaz is thugs
Niggaz’ll spend their whole life peddlin drugs
Slanging dope in hopes of one day bein able
To own their own label and give the game up
Some niggaz came up, some just didn’t
That’s just the way it is, if it ain’t meant it, it just isn’t
Some niggaz’ll get money and pay niggaz to back em
So they can act up, feel comfortable, and rap tough
And that’s as backwards, cuz them niggaz just gone keep coming back
And that’s when extortion happens
You struggle to get free, I know how this shit be
You deal with anything to live legitimately
But you gone find if you do get in this industry
It’s best to be business with me than against me’ ‘
Dr Dre makes his opponents look ridiculous. Ja Rule is targetted in particular. Eminem’s producer is a giant in the music industry. Matter of fact : Ja Rule is really far ‘ under his radar ‘. Ja Rule may be obsessed with Tupac, Dr Dre knew him personally. He used to collaborate with Tupac.
Ja Rule has no credibility as a gangsta, neither is he credible lyrically. His lyrics are weak and grammatically incorrect. What should we think of a man who cannot even spell the name of the black leaders on his current CD ‘ Blood In My Eye ‘ and who thinks he’s in competition with the pioneer of gangsta rap ? That’s laughable.
Obie Trice sends warnings to all of them enemies who run their mouth, but who appear to be cowards in real life. Eminem’s diss against Ja Rule is a fist against him and certainly a loss for his career. A lot of people in the world of hip hop have turned against him.
The last warning is about the fans’ reactions. What will the adversaries of the Shady camp do, will they stand up like real men or search for some protection from their bodyguards?
Many Eminem fans (including me) have felt offended by the Murder Inc disses against the whole Shady camp. Many of us Shady soldiers are ready to back the Shady camp.
But maybe Ja Rule and his camp should really fear some ‘crazed Stans’ who might harm them for real, as Obie sarcastically points it out:
“Now take it like a man and shake it off. Damn
And quit tellin all these magazines your plans
How you gone slap up my mans, you’re ficticious
Nigga, we send Stan to come murder your bitches…”
‘ Shit Hits The Fan ‘ is a track that is definitly worth listening to.
Shit Hits the Fan Lyrics
[Dr. Dre]
Yeah
Yo, let’s bring it
[Chorus – Eminem]
What you gonna do when shit hits the fan
Are you gonna stand and fight like a man?
Will you be as hard as you say you are?
Or you gonna run and go get your bodyguard?
I said What you gonna do when shit hits the fan?
Are you gonna stand and fight like a man?
And show us you’re as hard as you say you are?
Or you gonna run and go get your bodyguard?
[Verse 1 – Dr. Dre]
Niggaz is so gangsta, Niggaz is thugs
It’s best to be business with me than against me
Niggaz get behind mics and ain’t even MC’s
Niggaz get on MTV just to diss me
This shit don’t even piss me off
I’m laughin all the way to the bank
Watchin the satellite from a Bentley
You niggaz don’t even got a car
You’re so far under my radar
I don’t even know who the fuck you are
To tell you to suck my dick while I’m pissin
I don’t even listen to your shit to know who the fuck I’m dissin
The media just feeds into these feuds
Tryin to add fuel to the fire. This little nigga, Ja Rule
Talking bout he’s gonna slap me. Nigga please
You gotta jump and swing up to hit me in the knees
I laugh at these magazines when they interview em
All they doin is making fake threats to us through em
And pussy you’re not Pac, I knew em
Pac was a real nigga, you just a fuckin insult to em
It’s too bad we had to fallout before he passes
If he could see this shit now, he’d be whoopin your ass
You’re talkin to a pioneer who engineered this shit for 19 years
Who you got in your ear? I don’t even gotta say it, the fans know
Quit tryin to be tough, nigga, you look like a asshole
[Chorus – Eminem]
[Verse 2 – Obie Trice]
They say why don’t we increase the peace
The only peace increased is that which deletes your peeps
Cuz niggaz run mouths but they don’t run streets
Till that 4 5 will cease the speech
Yeah it’s a shame how the beef’ll creep
Could’ve reached the peep, now you’re left with a horrible leak
I’m tryin to be as bleak with my speech as possible
Just in case a nigga tryin to throw me an obstacle
Nigga, I’m not boxin you, I’m hospitable
I put you in a hospital, that’s how I get at you
Let the doc op on you, he don’t rid you?
You back on the streets? I send another hit at you
This is not a hypocritical issue
I will critical condition your tissue
Give a fuck if all ten of them wit you
I throw an extra ten of them missiles
Turn gangstas into gentlemen vicko
And ever since Eminem dissed you
I swear I see the women and bitch in you
All this bickering back and forth over who signs who
Curtis, pull your skirt up, nigga, you got murdered
Now take it like a man and shake it off. Damn
And quit tellin all these magazines your plans
How you gone slap up my mans, you’re ficticious
Nigga, we send Stan to come murder your bitches
[Chorus – Eminem]
Hahahahahaha
Yeah, yeah
Go out behind all the gangstas you want, nigga
Matter fact, go get every gangsta from every hood
In the United States of America to back you, nigga
Ain’t nobody ridin wit you
You can’t see that?
Fell off, nigga
Hahahahahaha
Damn, damn
Shady slash Aftermath, motherfucker
2003 to infinite (Yeahah)
It is never too late to break the circle
We can break the cycle
‘ Our parents don’t approve of our music and when they were teenagers, their parents didn’t like their music. It’s a cycle ‘, a teenager once told to a local newspaper.
Maybe true, but the cycle can be broken. How ? Simply by introducing more dialogue, more tolerance and more humor between parents and children and adults and kids in general. Teachers have also a great role to play in that way. They could introduce more current subjects. Kids are sometimes so annoyed by old fashioned teachers who keep talking about artists who used to live in the 17th century. Teenagers would certainly feel more respected if some teachers introduced from time to time a contemporary subject that corresponds to their tastes. Some teachers need to be re-educated, so to say. They seem to ignore that there is a lot to learn from kids. They are often disgusted by the music that pleases teenagers, because they have a very superficial look at it.
One of my eldest kid’s teacher made a comment on 8 Mile out of ignorance. She said in front of the whole class that Eminem had always been very rich and the whole class started laughing.
Many people don’t dare having an objective look at hip hop culture, because they are totally afraid of it. Hip hop refers to ghetto culture and values. As well as you cannot dissociate grafittis from ghetto, you cannot separate it from rap music. Hip hop and gangsta rap is deranging to many parents and teachers because of the many cusswords and references to guns and drugs it contains.
But adults need to look further. They need to discover the beauty and the poetry of street culture that is hidden behind the rough words. They need to discover the beauty of the beats and the rythms. But what they need most is a sense of humor to understand what makes their kids laugh crazy.
A better mutual understanding between adults and kids, a better acceptance of our teenagers’ tastes will help us to break the cycle. It is possible. My eldest son and me have broken it. We both listen to the same kind of music and it has improved our relationship for a great part. It is never to late to open our mind’
Brittany Murphy speaks out about Eminem
The actress Brittany Murphy who has played Jimmy Smith’s love interest in 8 Mile has come closer to Eminem than many women will ever come. She has spent a lot of time working with him on the great movie. She is one of the persons who will make you understand that Marshall is a real nice person. In an interview given to TV guide online, the actress described Marshall as an honest and loveable person:
“He’s great. I adore him so far,he’s a good person. He’s an honest person and he’s funny and talented – and really lovely to be around.”
Brittany has even been more than just Eminem’s love interest Alex in 8 Mile, she has also been his girlfriend:
“We became very close.”
At the time they played the hot scene between Alex and Jimmy, Brittany first didn’t realize how much she liked him:
“(At the time) I didn’t realize that I liked him like that. I was very nervous about it. “
Brittany Murphy can testify that Marshall always treated her respectfully while playing their love scene:
“He’s actually the most respectful person that I ever had a love scene with.
“It’s an extremely raunchy scene. It could have been an awful experience, but instead it was a very private, on a very closed set.
“Marshall was so overwhelmingly respectful; he didn’t make dumb jokes as guys sometimes do when they’re nervous on set. He didn’t make me feel uncomfortable in any way.”I
t is time for his detractors to realize that Marshall isn’t a women hater, but a regular and sensitive man in real life. The women who have dated Marshall will confirm that he has treated them as a gentleman. Marshall may have deep wound because two women (Debbie and Kim) have hurt him a lot, but he is not against women in general.
“To me, he was Marshall. He’s a family man, an extraordinary worker and gives everything to his daughter. He’s one of the hardest working, determined, brilliant people that I have ever met in my life and I think that it’s great that the world is getting to know different sides of him. He’s constantly been judged for what he says, tongue in cheek, and finally people are realizing a lot more about him which is great.’ (Brittany Murphy)
Marshall is a hard working man, he’s brilliant, he is aso a devoted father to his daughter.
Brittany and Marshall were involved in a serious relationship. Brittany Murphy has stated on MTV that she has dated Eminem.
It has been rumored that she faked a panic attack at a party and that eminem dumped after that event.
Both are still in good terms and still in touch with each o
Slim shady and his crew go on war against censorship in music
In the D12 song “Rap Game”, Eminem disses Dolores Tucker and Lynn Cheney a bad way. None of both women will be able to escape to Eminem’s bullets and Slim Shady drives them mad on purpose. Slim Shady and his fellows have started a war with no mercy against corporatist censorship. Why ? Because people like Delores Tucker and Lynn Cheney want to force people how to think and how to act. Lynn Cheney’s concept of political correctness, for instance, is useless, as far as I am concerned.
Delores Tucker has started a holy crusade against gangsta rap, because she thinks gangsta rap attacks vulnerable groups of people. And she dares making a parallel with Jewish people :
http://wcommand.hypermart.net/headlines/293.html
You will learn more about her on this website:
http://www.hitemup.com/news/printit.cgi?id=EpFuykuAkuBQsWSjHp
Mrs Tucker is not afraid of a public exposure of her sexual life and she claims Tupac ruined her sex life :
http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0%2C1%2C1539%2C00.html
Gangsta rap is so often attacked by the same kind of (rich) conservative and religious integrists who live their comfortable lives and have no idea of the reality of the neighborhoods.
Gangsta rap is reflection of real life. Conservative people usually prefer to hide reality for their own benefits. They are totally blind to the message contained in gangsta rap. They spend their whole time in their comfortable offices while Blacks get humiliated and killed by the police. They ignore underground people’s allday difficulties, pain and misery, they do as if white trash people didn’t exist. The ‘ American Dream ‘ is demented by the people they despise.
Eminem, the ‘ white menace of America ‘ is here to piss them off, again and again. His engagement and his loyalty towards black people deserve a lot of admiration. Marshall helps white people from the suburbs to understand ghetto life and black people’s pain. White America needed a true spokesman.
Engagement is important in a society in which human rights are constantly denied. Shutting down political rappers endangers our freedom of speech and thus, our fundamental rights.
About Delores Tucker, Eminem says in ‘ Rap Game ‘ :
‘ I’m all for America, fuck the government
Tell that C. Delores Tucker slut to suck a dick’ ‘
The Bush administration doesn’t get the lyrics of gangsta rap, it’s obvious. Slang isn’t really familiar to them. Eminem’s recent song ‘ We As Americans ‘ has been so misunderstood that the FBI investigated if Eminem was a real threat for president Bush’s life. Just because the Bush administration didn’t get the slang term ‘ dead President ‘ which is a metaphor for ‘ money ‘. How far should we push stupidity ?
In the same ‘ Rap Game ‘ song, Bizarre makes fun of people who want to censor music for kids :
‘ My little girl, she shouldn’t listen to these lyrics
That’s why I glued her headphones to her ear to make sure she hear it’ ‘
What is Bizarre trying to say ? Probably the same thing than Eminem in ‘ Who Knew ‘ :
‘ Get aware, wake up, get a sense of humor
Quit tryin to censor music, this is for your kid’s amusement’ ‘
People like Delores Tucker are trying to censor artists like Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Marilyn Manson. Eminem is also her target. She even called him ‘ the reincarnation of Tupac ‘. Tupac that she hates and despises.
Hip hop is always getting censored by people who have no idea of what is going on in the ghetto. People who have never suffered and ‘ who have no idea what is like to be broke as a fuck ‘. The same people who have everything want to shut down the voice of people who have nothing at all and whose life is a constant struggle.
Hip hop is the voice of oppressed black people, hip hop is the fight for more justice. Rap music has helped a lot for a better understanding of black people and has improved interracial relations between people. Men like Eminem have also contributed to that task for a large part.

The Infinite song
The Infinite song reveals the creative skills of a talented MC who represents the 313. The Infinite album may have been unsuccessful, but it already shows Eminem’s creativity.
The Infinite song in particular is a well written song. The Infinite album was released in 1996. Eminem’s first album didn’t please a great majority of people, although it is lyrically excellent : in fact Eminem was often accused of sounding like Nas or Jay-Z.
He stated it in the iCast interview, Eminem was about 14 years old when he started rapping and writing his rhymes.
‘ I was about nine when I started listening to rap. I started rapping, writing my own rhymes about fourteen, fifteen and just kept getting better at it. ‘
Which proves that Marshall has great experience behind him. He’s also known as a bookworm who is capable of spending hours reading the dictionary in order to find some words to rhyme. Even his biggests opponents admit that Marshall has a sophisticated rhyming style.
Eminem has managed to impress the Bass brothers for his great rhyming ability since he was 15. Maybe the Infinite song isn’t technically as good as his later songs, but the rhymes are impressing, though.
Watching the scene of 8 Mile where you can see Jimmy Rabbit composes ‘ Lose Yourself ‘ makes you travel into the mind of the composer of the Infinite song. You got the same impression of pen and paper having a chain reaction when you see Rabbit using each corner of the paper sheet, the whole paper sheet is full of writings.
Eminem talks about his writing process in his former iCast interview :
‘ No, my writing process is basically, I don’t try to sit down and think of shit. I let the thoughts pop into my head, and then I write them down. I let it come natural. It’s not something that I try to search for. I gotta let the stuff– throughout the course of my day, I might find like six to twelve ideas. And then just jot them down and at the end of the week or the end of two weeks or whatever, I stack my ideas up and then I write a rhyme. ‘
Never has it been that easy to travel through the mind of a lyrical genius than with Eminem. Because he takes you with him during his journey, he wants you to feel what he feels.
At the time Eminem wrote his Infinite song, he was in competition with other rappers who didn’t have half of his skills and who were successful.
Those frustrations are also visible in ‘ If I had ‘ :
‘ ‘Tired of other rappers who ain’t bringin half the skill as me
saying they wasn’t feeling me when nobody’s as ill as me’ ‘
You could barely deny the beauty of Eminem’s rhymes when you read those lines of ‘ Infinite ‘ :
“I travel through your mind until you spine like siren drills
I’m sliming grills of roaches, with sprayed on disinfectants
With some ex rappers till their spinal column disconnects
We disinfect then check the monologue, turn your system up
Twist them up, and indulge in the marijuana smoke
This is the season for noise pollution contamination
Examination of more cartoons than animation
My lamination of narration
Hit’s a snare and bass of track fucked up rapper interrogation
When I declare invasion, there ain’t no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland…
I’m Infinite…”
Eminem has always been a fighter who was determined to win the battles against his opponents. He knows that he cannot fail when he invades the stage :
‘When I declare invasion, there ain’t no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland…
I’m Infinite…’
Eminem knows by instinct how to captivate his audience. All the people who have seen him performing know that he’s got a lot of charisma. He manages to captivate a huge audience, to make them feel the way he feels. He brings some magic into his show.
His strength as a brilliant MC is expressed in the second verse of the song :
‘Bust it, I let the beat commence so I can beat the sense of your elite
defense
I got to meet the fence fruit was stompin at your feet to rinse
I greet intensive ladies, I spoil all your fans
I foil plans and leave fluids leaking like oil bands
My coil hands around this microphone lethal
One thought in my cerebral is deeper then a Jeep full of people
MC’s are feeble, I came to cause some pandemonium
Battle a band of phony MC’s and stand the only one
Imitator, Intimidator, Stimulator, Simulator of data, Eliminator
There’s never been a greater since the burial of Jesus
Fuck around and catch all of the venereal diseases
My thesis will smash a stereo to pieces
My accapella releases plastic masterpieces through telekinesis
And eases you mentally, gently, sentimentally, instrumentally
With entity, dementedly meant to be Infinite…’
The chorus is full of humor. The MC who was sentenced for ‘murdering some instruments’ will be caught killing the alphabet in the Slim Shady LP:
‘ I can’t rap anymore – I just murdered the alphabet’ ‘ (Still Don’t Give A Fuck ‘)
The only difference is that he won’t show any sign of repentance in his next album, since the creation of Slim Shady…
Eminem’s metaphors make you penetrate in the mind of a great poet. Much more extraordinary is his use of similar sounding words and the way he assembles them:
‘No one is speacialer, My skill is intergalactical
I get cynical at a fool then I send a crew back to school
I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn’t practical
I’d rather led a tactful, tractical, track for your fancy
In fact I can’t see, or can’t imagine…’
The Infinite song lyrics may be less known, even among Eminem’s fans, but they deserve a lot of admiration. They are well written. It is difficult to explain why the Infinite album didn’t sell well. But the main reasons cannot been found in the quality of the lyrics. Maybe the sound quality wasn’t that good and its unsuccess must probably due to technical reasons. In the meantime, Eminem has, of course, improved a lot of things. But who could deny he had great lyricals skills since the beginning?
“Infinite”
Oh yeah, this is Eminem baby, back up in that motherfucking ass
One time for your mother fucking mind, we represent the 313
You know what I’m saying?, cause they don’t know shit about this
For the 9-6
Verse 1:
Ayo, my pen and paper cause a chain reaction
To get your brain relaxin, cause they be actin maniac in action
A brainiac in fact son, you mainly lack attraction
You looking zany whack with just a fraction of my tracks spun
My rhyming skills got you climbing hills
I travel through your mind until you spine like siren drills
I’m sliming grills of roaches, with sprayed on disinfectants
With some ex rappers till their spinal column disconnects
We disinfect then check the monologue, turn your system up
Twist them up, and indulge in the marijuana smoke
This is the season for noise pollution contamination
Examination of more cartoons than animation
My lamination of narration
Hit’s a snare and bass of track fucked up rapper interrogation
When I declare invasion, there ain’t no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland…
I’m Infinite
Chorus:
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
Verse 2:
Bust it, I let the beat commence so I can beat the sense of your elite
defense
I got to meet the fence fruit was stompin at your feet to rinse
I greet intensive ladies, I spoil all your fans
I foil plans and leave fluids leaking like oil bands
My coil hands around this microphone lethal
One thought in my cerebral is deeper then a Jeep full of people
MC’s are feeble, I came to cause some pandemonium
Battle a band of phony MC’s and stand the only one
Imitator, Intimidator, Stimulator, Simulator of data, Eliminator
There’s never been a greater since the burial of Jesus
Fuck around and catch all of the venereal diseases
My thesis will smash a stereo to pieces
My accapella releases plastic masterpieces through telekinesis
And eases you mentally, gently, sentimentally, instrumentally
With entity, dementedly meant to be Infinite
Chorus:
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
Verse 3:
Man I got evidence I’m never dense and I been clever ever since
My residence was hesitant to do some shit that represents the M-O
So I’m assuming all responsibility
Cause there’s a monster will in me that always wants to kill MC’s
Mic messaler, slamming like a wrestler
Here to make a mess of a lyric smuggling embezzler
No one is speacialer, My skill is intergalactical
I get cynical at a fool then I send a crew back to school
I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn’t practical
I’d rather led a tactful, tractical, track for your fancy
In fact I can’t see, or can’t imagine
A man who ain’t a lover of beats or a fan of scratching
This is for my family, the kid who had a cameo on my last jam
Plus the man who never had a plan B
Be all you can be, cause once you make an instant hit
I’m tense to be tempted when I see the sins my friends commit…
I’m Infinite
Chorus:
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
Say Goodbye to Hollywood
‘ Say Goodbye to Hollywood ‘ is a song that Eminem has dedicated to his fans. A song that expresses the sour aftertaste of fame. A song in which he offers us a retrospective of the drama that happened when he caught Kim cheating with John Guerra. An incident that still hurts him, but that also helped him to become more mature. Eminem has understood a lot through his mistakes. He has understood that he could lose everything if he was put in jail. He didn’t want Hailie to suffer from his own mistakes and he decided to slow down :
“I need to slow down
Try to get my feet on solid ground, so for now I’m…”
In the first verse Eminem mentions his friend Gary who was arrested the same day :
‘ Turned around saw Gary stashin’ the heater in his belt
Saw the bouncers rush him and beat him to the ground’ ‘
Gary Kozlowski drove Eminem to the club and he picked up his gun after it had dropped to the gound. No charges were filed against Gary.
Detroit DJ ‘DJ Butter ‘, Barry Yett, a friend of Marshall said about the former incident opposing Eminem to John Guerra :
“Em’s not a violent guy; he’s just on top of the world right now and people are trying to bring him down. You’ve got to think about how scary his life is right now. Too scary to not have a gun — he has stalkers, people dropping by his house — he’s got all that. He doesn’t have a public or a private life anymore.”
In the second verse, Marshall shares his anxiousness with his fans. Since the beginning of his career, he’s been through a lot of difficult situations like the incident with John Guerra, he also had to face several lawsuits.
In addition to those negative events, Marshall had to face a lot of pressure from the media, from his labels, from some annoying fans, which is very much to bear for one single man. Eminem expresses that life’s greatest gift for him is his daughter Hailie.
Sometimes, Eminem feels weak and discouraged. Sometimes he is fed up with the show business. His fame is sometimes difficult to face with, and he sometimes wishes he could escape to the public exposure of his privacy :
“For me to have this much appeal like this is sick
This is not a game, this fame, in real life this is sick
Publicity stunt my ass, conceal my fuckin’ dick
Fuck the guns, i’m done, i’ll never look at gats…”
Marshall talks to his fans in his song and he addresses them a message : he wants tham to know that he loves them ( his fans, particularly those who had the chance to see him on stage, know that those words are a 100 % true.)
Marshall loves his fans and his fans love him too. But he also wants them to realize how much he sacrificed for them. He wants his fans to acknoledge that his life is sometimes living hell for him. He has to hide his hair and his face to keep anonymous. Hailie sometimes also suffers from her daddy’s fame, she sometimes gets annoyed by people. Her life is exposed as well as Marshall’s.
Marshall wants his fans to know that it is sometimes too much for him. It is also a strong appeal for them to respect his privacy. Somebody has told me that he didn’t like ‘ The Way I Am ‘ because ‘ this song was dissing fans ‘. I don’t agree with this person at all. In ‘ The Way I Am ‘ as well as in ‘ Say Goodbye To Hollywood ‘, Eminem’s feelings come out of his chest. Happiness as well as pain and anger are feelings he shares with us.
And when he’s exceeded by some fans’ crazy behavior, Eminem is not afraid to tell it.
When he used to live in Sterling Heights, he was bothered all the time. That’s why he made up his decision to move to Clinton Township (before buying his mansion in Oakland county). Marc Hicks explains how disrespectful some people were in the past and the reasons that motivated him to move to Clinton Township :
“I guess because of the fans. He couldn’t pick up a newspaper off his porch. You had people that would take cargo vans and act like they were delivering a package to meet Eminem. You had people jumping in the swimming pool.
“He loves his fans but my God!”
The media have made a God out of him. Marshall wasn’t prepared to all that. He also stated that global fame scares him and that he never expected to get that big.
It’s high time some fans realized Marshall Mathers is a human being who uses the bathroom too. He has the honesty to expose his weaknesses to his public and he deserves a lot of respect for that.
If he could go back, he would never have rapped. But now that he’s in the rap game, we don’t want him to quit. Because he’s so good at what he’s doing.
Keep on rapping Marshall, it would feel so empty without you anyway !
“Say Goodbye Hollywood”
[Chorus]
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
{Hollywood}, sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
{Why do I feel this way}, sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
[Verse 1]
I thought I had it all figured out, I did
I thought I was tough enough to stick it out with Kim
But I wasn’t tough enough to juggle two things at once
I found myself layin’ on my knees in cuffs
Which should’ve been a reason enough, for me to get my stuff and just leave
How come I couldn’t see this shit myself, it’s just me
Nobody couldn’t see the shit I felt
Knowin’ damn well she wasn’t gonna be there when I fell, to catch me
The minute shit was heated she just bailed
i’m standin’ here swingin’ on like thirty people by myself
I couldn’t even see the millimetere when it fell
Turned around saw Gary stashin’ the heater in his belt
Saw the bouncers rush him and beat him to the ground
I just sold two million records, I don’t need to go to jail
I’m not about to lose my freedom over no female
I need to slow down
Try to get my feet on solid ground, so for now i’m…
[CHORUS]
[Verse 2]
Bury my face in comic books, cause I don’t want to look
At nothin’, this world’s too much
I’ve swallowed all I could
If I could swallow a bottle of tylenol I would, and end it for good
Just say goodbye to Hollywood
I probably should, these problems are piling all at once
Cause everything that bothers me, I got it bottled up
I think i’m bottomin’ out
But i’m not about to give up, I gotta get up
Thank God, I got a little girl
And I’m a responsible father
So not a lot of good, i’d be to my daughter layin’ in the bottom of the mud
Must be in my blood cause I don’t know how I do it
All I know is I don’t want to follow in the footsteps of my dad
Cause I hate him so bad
The worst fear that I had was growin’ up to be like his fuckin’ ass, man
If you could understand why I am the way that I am
What do I say to my fans, when I tell ’em i’m…
[CHORUS]
[Verse 3]
I don’t wanna quit, but shit, I feel like this is it
For me to have this much appeal like this is sick
This is not a game, this fame, in real life this is sick
Publicity stunt my ass, conceal my fuckin’ dick
Fuck the guns, i’m done, i’ll never look at gats
If I scrap, i’ll scrap like I ain’t never whooped some ass
I love my fans
But no one ever puts a grasp on the fact i’ve sacrificed everything I have
I never dreamt i’d get to the level that i’m at, this is whack
This is more than I ever could of asked
everywhere I go, a hat, a sweater hood, or mask
What about math, how come I wasn’t ever good at that
It’s like the boy in the bubble, who never could adapt, i’m trapped
If I could go back, I never woulda rapped
I sold my soul to the devil, i’ll never get it back
I just wanna leave this game with level head intact
Imagine goin’ from bein’ a no one to seein’,
everything blow up and all you did was just grow
up emceeing
It’s fuckin’ crazy
Cause all I wanted was to give Hailie the life I never had
But instead I forced us to live alienated, so i’m sayin’…
[CHORUS]
[Outro]
Goodbye, goodbye Hollywood, {Goodbye},
please don’t cry for me, when i’m gone for good, {this shit is not for me},
so goodbye, goodbye Hollywood,
{i’m not a fuckin’ star}, please don’t cry
for me, when I’m gone for good, {i’m goin’ back home}…
