Denaun Porter aka Mr. Porter aka Kon Artis from D12 has been a busy man as of late. While putting in work for artists like Little Brother, Pharoahe Monch and Jay Electronica, Mr. Porter revealed to HipHopDX what he has coming up in 2008.
“I definitely am going to help get this D12 album done,” he states about working with his crew. “I got 6 songs that I’m in love with – not just because I did them but because the guys are spitting their hearts out.”
Porter also reveals a solo production album coming out this year titled Who Is John Doe.
“I’m putting out the Who Is John Doe project this year and it’s a great thing because it gives you a CD of all of the beats that didn’t make it (on other albums),” the Detroit producer explains. “It’s all chops and niggas ain’t never heard me do that. They are hearing beats that aren’t even put together. They are raggedy.”
The guest list is full of some of the Motor City’s finest.
“The album has got Guilty Simpson, it’s got Black Milk, myself doing solo songs, Phat Kat. It’s got all these cats I came up to listening with Jay Dee. It’s got Slum Village. Elzhi has a solo song on there. Dwele. So I made that project for myself before I go back out there.”
What Mr. Porter means by “before I go back out there” is supplying beats for Dr Dre’s swan song Detox. He – along with quite a few other notable producers – have been hard at work supplying the good Doctor with a plethora of beats. Many are curious what is going on with the project but Porter can give some insight.
“He just needs that first record,” he says of the hold up on the album. “He’s got records. We’ve busted our ass and I hope Dre feels that way. We really came to the table with different things. But Dre’s going to do that record. We’re not going to do it, we’re just giving him ideas. But Andre Young is going to come with it! It’s just his last record and he’s gotta go out with a bang!”
The one thing that piques the curiosity of many is the whereabouts of Porter’s close friend, Slim Shady.
“Eminem’s been recording, he’s always working. Me and him haven’t talked much because I have my own career.”
But although he hasn’t talked as frequently with his friend as many would think, Porter did take the time to squash a few rumors that had been hovering.
“Em ain’t fat,” Porter laughs as he talks about the blond emcee from 8 Mile. “He fucked his ACL up. What people don’t know is that Em got sick around Christmas and he had pneumonia. Then he fucked his ACL up right after that and that’s a serious injury. He’s straight. He just hurt himself and he’s good. He ain’t high or fucked up somewhere. That nigga is working. I’m going to help him get his record done. I need an Eminem record in my life for my own self. I need that.“
Porter also says that Eminem is completely clean and in great spirits.
“He’s the most clear and at his brightest point. That’s my family. We bump heads because we competitors. I’m cuter than him and he hates it. Bitches love me, they love him too but he got more money than me.“

Eminem’s estranged mother, Debbie Nelson, is being sued by a man who says he was under contract as her literary agent and has not received his cut of the profits from her tell-all book about her famous son. According to the Detroit News, Neal Alpert and the Rachel Erin Corporation filed the suit against Nelson in Michigan’s Oakland County Circuit Court on Monday (April 7). The suit claims that Em’s mother and her publisher Walton, Little, went behind Alpert’s back and released the book My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem: Setting the Record Straight on My Life as Eminem’s Mother. “As her agent, he was entitled to a percentage of profits but hasn’t seen a dime,” said Drew Norton, Alpert’s attorney. Alpert claims that Nelson hired him as her agent in book, TV and film projects, for which he was entitled to 25 percent of any profits. He claims that the book was his idea and that, under a July 2006 contract, Nelson agreed to have Walton, Little pay commissions from sales of the book to Erin. Alpert and Erin claim that they have not seen any payment for the project. The suit states that the book, which was released in the U.K. last September, has sold over 100,000 copies. My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem is scheduled to be released in the U.S. this week.

Today (April 7th) people in Compton, California are celebrating the memory of Eric “Eazy-E” Wright. The former major of Compton, Omar Bradley, declared April 7th to be “Eazy-E” day stating “Eric made Compton famous not just in California, but all over the world,” at Eazy’s funeral, continuing “I recognize Eazy as a young man who grew up in the streets of Compton–and brothers and sisters, we know it’s not ‘easy’ growing up in Compton.”
Eazy, known for founding Ruthless Records which released albums by rap groups like N.W.A., The D.O.C., Above The Law, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony and others. Jerry Heller who co-founded the label with Eazy said “March 26, 1995 was the saddest day in the history of rap music,” continuing “Not a day goes by that Gayle [Heller] and I don’t think about my long time friend and business associate with the fondest remembrances. He was an incredible visionary, and truly ‘the little big man.’ R.I.P my brother.”

The green eyed eternal youth and health elixir
Today I will share one of my most important youth and health secrets with my readers.
Green tea is one of the most affordable products on the market, yet it is one of the most precious and valuable drinks (besides mineral water) that mankind could find.
Drinking it in tea bags is NOT using it at its maximum efficiency, so if you really want to totally benefit from its favorable effects on your health and body, you definitely ought to use grains.
Although there are so many categories for the real connoisseurs (I leave that part to the green tea experts), I do use the more common sort of green tea you can find. It is produced in China and named Gunpowder. A big box of tea will cost you around £ 1.79 whether you live in the UK (buy them from the Turkish shops, they are cheaper here) or around € 2.50 elsewhere in Europe (you will find a great range of cheap, and various green teas in Paris, for instance, near Simplon- Porte de Clignancourt, at many Arab shops: take them from here, they are cheaper and those people usually know more about tea than the average European citizen).
So why is it worth to drink green tea on a daily basis?
The first reason is that it has an incredibly good and fine taste. It will warm you during the winter and cool you up in the summer.
The other reasons are numerous.
Considering green teas’ effects on your skin, no woman should hesitate in taking green tea. Green tea is rich in antioxidants, so it combats ageing very actively. The more regularly you drink it, the better your skin condition will be. Some of you might not know, but you can use green tea on your skin. Take some luke warm green tea and apply it on your face: it will activate your skin’s natural collagen production (no need for artificial collagen injections any more).
Not only does green tea help you to keep young in your appearance, it is also a well known slimmer. If you wanna stay slim, drink your daily green tea amount, it will help balance you weight in any case.
Green tea also fortifies your bones. Its composition is so good for you that it protects you against memory losses, strokes and cardio vascular accidents.
Green tea is known for its great diuretic qualities. It will help you to protect your kidneys against bad infections.
Did I mention that green tea possesses strong anti tooth decay agents?
My advice: be a GREEN TEA TOTAL!
You won’t regret it. It will help you keep youthful looks and keep your body in shape.
Don’t follow our society’s trends, rather follow healthy habits that will do more for you than any ‘miraculous’ chemical formula.

What a wonderful occasion to travel through the terrific world of the Murder Capital. Like a wirlwind, a high amplitude menace hangs over Detroit, preparing its folks for a “heaven’s hammer” devastation, as the somber voice in the background suggests. Be prepared for the most murderous verbal assaults.
Thug N’ U is a rhythmic Tupac sampled track adapted to a 7 Mile style. You are going to love it!
No Trust is built on a cadenced piano background mixed up with some astute lyrics. Feel the unsecurity of the narrator who trusts no one. Jazzed up sounds definitely enhance the tracks.The musical creativity of the song needs to be strongly underlined.
Meet a young OG named Trick Trick at the murderous 7 Mile. Keyboards and drum beats will make you feel the men on the run, trying to escape from the bullets.
The repeated 7 Mile-7 Mile reeinforces the gun talk and fuck the police attitude of its inhabitants. Trick and his crew are for real, better believe it!
To Death lets the listener guess about the rough environment his ears are about to meet. Like dark shapes emerging from a foggy background, the menace is there, waiting for the right moment to break out.
From Death is beautifully enriched with some Ruthless sounds and a chronic spirit. Back from Death, back from the land of the nightmares, Trick Trick is ready to bust his enemies with his crew
RIP To My OGs is a touching ode to hip hop’s fallen soldiers.
Hooked On Cronic : ready to get stoned by Trick Trick and his partners in crime. Blaze it up, seize the irony of the lyrics, enjoy our emcees’ know how.
Follow the crazy Booty Bounce and its musically instable syllables. It is followed by a filthy minded Pass Da Pu**y. Light, distorted sounds introduce Do Dat Shit, a repetitive and richly musically structured anthem.
The Goon Sqwad track projects the listener into a surrealistic atmosphere.
Gurp On is made of amplified techno sounds. Sharp voices intensify the electronic chaos, giving an overall let loose impression. Get lost into a troubled world.If you like Detroit hip hop’s absolute darkness and sharp dimension of the rough, you are going to love the From Death CD.

April, the 11th, 2006, the day that tragically changed the face of Detroit hip hop
I can’t help it, as we are heading towards April, to think about the tragic day that left a whole community orphan:(
Deshaun Holton was a brilliant artist, yet he remained humble and down to earth. He was one of the most dedicated emcees on the Detroit hip hop scene.
His very prolific work on the Detroit scene testifies his love for his hometown and his sincere dedication towards hip hop.
It’s been 2 years, already and it seems as if it was yesterday.
As time goes by, I would like to join all the people who shared and still share the same passion for his music and honor Big Proof’s memory.

Because of a stupid argument, a talented emcee had to lose his life…I still believe that Deshaun Holton died for nothing. It is quite obvious that a lot of envy and jealousy were involved in the tragic event.
However, even if the man has left us for a better place, his music is meant to say with us all for ever.
A few weeks ago, I have talked to Proof’s former promotions director, also known as Rude of IF.
I asked him about the release date of the Time A Tell CD.
As far as he knows, there is no precise release date available for the moment.
DJ Jewels, who is responsible of the Time A Tell project, would like to work hard on it before he announces any release date, in order to honor Proof’s last work as it really deserves it.
As soon as I will know, you will be the firsts to know about it, that’s my promise.
Proof’s spirit will live on with us, so let’s rejoice and keep honoring our hip hop brother’s memory, as his music floods into our ears.
